✏️We asked Julija Panova to create 3 new drawings for the new issue - Great Escape. Julija is an artist and illustrator based in Rotterdam (NL), whose work spans digital drawing, comics, and socially engaged projects.

Repost • @blamecake Thanks, @mashushka, for inviting me to make some drawings for the new @wobbyclub issue #43! 🌱
Soon after I first arrived in the Netherlands, I stumbled across a stack of Wobby zines in one of those little public book-sharing shelves and greedily took a few home. I never imagined I’d one day have my own work in its pages.
I’m happy to see my drawings alongside the work of the wonderful @roman_m and so many other amazing artists, with a beautiful cover by @ramandjafari. 🧚
My contribution look especially dreamy printed in these luminous colours.
I also have a small edition of Theater of Self printed in lavender ink. I’d love to trade one for another artwork—or if you’d like to buy one, send me a message.

A closer look at some of the work from the longlist from this year’s Booooooom Illustration Awards, supported by @useformat. This small selection gives a sense of the breadth and strength of work we reviewed this year. So much incredible work from some seriously talented illustrators.

This year, we selected over 200 images across 5 categories: Advertising & Promotional, Editorial, Personal, Product & Packaging, and Student. Head to the 🔗 in our bio to explore the full longlist, shortlist, and winners. We highly recommend spending some time exploring some truly outstanding work.

Things I saw in April that made me want to make art:

1- ‘Groupchat I’ Kevin Sabo’s portraiture is a breath of fresh air and is one of my favorite artists at the moment
2- Day Brièrre’s ‘All Piss and Wind Like a Barber Cat’
3- The mending of floor cracks on the Q train to Astoria
4- Samantha Kerdine’s tile painting ‘Dormeur’
5- Springtime in NYC
6- Kai Jenrette’s beautiful graphite on waxed paper pieces
7- Maty Biayenda’s painting, ‘Sabel au Téléphone’
8- The film ‘Tajouj’ I saw at the MoMI, one of the first Sudani films made
9- Julija Panova’s looping animation - and her whole visual language
10- Issam Kourbaj’s artwork ‘Hit hard’, about the Syrian civil war’s effect on the economy
11- A rug seller I stumbled across in a building in Queens showed me his vintage Persian rug collection, one of which was this 100 year old figurative tapestry
12- Mrinalini Mukherjee’s insanely beautiful textile sculptures, that I learnt of through @ohsagarika
13- Mamali Shafaji’s relief work in ‘Witness 20’
14- ‘Embryo Dreams’ by Alina Malyk
