Join us on September 24th for a full day of conversations and celebration with some amazing people.

The morning session will follow an “un-conference” style in Senate House, Bloomsbury, where you can bring your experiences and ideas, and hear from others.

The afternoon sessions will start with a tour of the Scarlett Westbrook Garden, followed by a conversation on Student Net-gain back at Senate House: “how can students and other communities be empowered to take action?”

After that, a celebration in the garden at 5pm!!

See eventbrite for more details.

Step inside Bankside with Golden Key Academy tour guide Carole Wright (@blak_outside ) — where prison grounds became peaceful parks and Victorian philanthropists reinvented social housing. Hear about local nurses who fearlessly fought fascism in Spain.

Pay respects at a burial ground for women of the night, uncover centuries of queer history hidden in plain sight, and celebrate three hundred years of West African creativity woven into the soul of this remarkable riverside neighbourhood.

A walk exploring the working class, global majority and queer history of London's Bankside and Southbank - recounting known and unknown histories next door to the City Wall.

From the 12th-20th September there will be free open houses, guided tours, activities, exhibitions and more for you to discover.
Events bookable 19 August, 12pm.

Check out the program now on the @opencity_uk festival website.

Plants connect people 🌱😌🤝

It’s an incredible afternoon finally getting to meet @blanche.cameron in person. Thanks a lot for showing me the recently opened Scarlett Westbrook Garden (Pic1: group photo behind the big big hotel 🐝)

Pic2: exploring the rain planters (designed by @wendyallendesigns , planting by @hellotherelinda , with help by @grassroofco and students)

Besides that, it’s lovely to learn more about @resourcetwelve , which is a CIC that does learning, research, and advocacy for circular materials. Great to meet @harangseo_ and @mariusidaravicius

Video 3: Little highlights ➡️there’s a stunning hummingbird hawk-moth that visited us while we were exploring the garden.

Looking forward to creating a post about the garden very soon 👀🙌 (Stay tuned~)
