Tomorrow morning, come walk with us.

Our TEAM Solana Beach member Xavier Garcia works with Foundation Fighting Blindness, and their San Diego VisionWalk is this Sunday, 10/25 at 9am at De Anza Cove in Mission Bay.

It’s a 5K-style walk and it’s free to sign up. All the money raised goes toward research for treatments and cures for inherited retinal diseases, the kind that take people’s sight a little at a time.

Bring the kids, bring the guide or service dogs only, grab a coffee after. Easy way to spend a Sunday morning doing something that matters.

Hey LA!!!! I’m doing my first ever fundraiser CALLED “Friendsgiving LA” for The Foundation Fighting Blindness Los Angeles Chapter. Teaming up with @cdinicolo for the LHON Collective to raise money for both causes. Thank you to @meryahcology for creating this flyer and coming as an artist to perform for us too! Link is in my bio to register. We’ll count how many people are coming to have enough food to sale and to confirm what artist we’ll be having as well along with comedians, poetry, story telling and MAGICIANS. Food will be turkey sandwiches, cranberry sauces with chicken tamales homemade with water. More will be provided when closer to the date. For snacks with have chocolate muffins with bananas and blueberries. And then we also will have coffee for sale. Mingle and check out our jewelry bead vendors who is completely blind @fumfer33 and our sighted vendor with portraits you may also see and feel @artsiebfamily After, sit and relax to get ready for an amazing show with the Blind Low Vision and Sighted Community. I am soooo happy to see you shine like the vibrant leader and star that you are. I remember now I found Fighting Blindness somehow through social media. But I never got fully connected with them until DOR and @heartsforsight organizations guided me to their contact on their website where I found an LA representative @xgarcia22 . Xavier has been such a great human in my life with all of this. Now Representing the Los Angeles Chapter as Community Engagement Chair. So happy to do the interview with you. Yes to our Vice President of Orange County @queenofthekassel I feel Liberated to Use My White Cane Folded or as needed. It helps me walk around better in certain areas or lighting of the day. Certain ground structures and stairs. It shows others if I’m looking down I may not see their head or shoes. Or them walking beside me until their in my direct line of view or parts of my sides wear I see their body. So thank you for being vulnerable and sharing this soul sister. We also did a “ Minds Eye” Exercise where you would take the wax pencil and draw a face on a blank sheet of paper without lifting the pencil or opening your eye if you still see. It helped us trust ourselves more and unlock the childlike mindset back in. No limits only possibilities. Nothing is perfect.
