Still absolutly buzzing after @ldnxwembley was Not a flat a fast course, those hills especially 8km were a killer! However I destroyed my personal best by nearly 4mins, clocking sub 43 with 42mins 52 seconds

I managed a negative split and ran a second half 20min 50second 5km: (20 seconds off my 5km PB).

1 race 2 PB's and I still have more in the tank! What an amazing day.

Running more wasn’t the only answer.

Coming back from injury forced me to look at everything around the miles, strength, control, stability and actually training with intention.

A few running-specific movements added to my week helping me feel stronger and confident when the pace picks up. When the lungs run out the legs carry.

The race result gets posted:

10k 39:24
Half mara 1:30.43

…but this is part of the work behind it.

Slightly ironic advice coming from a previously injured runner… but we move 😂 so here’s a small insight what I’m doing to stay injury free… hopefully

13 years and 23 ballots later. I finally got to run London.

The prep wasn’t ideal with it being only 39 weeks after an awful bike crash that resulted in 20 breaks to 12 ribs, a smashed collarbone and cracked sternum.

There were dark times when I doubted it was possible due to being unable to breathe because of the internal scar tissue. There were tears. There was frustration.

But on Sunday I only bloody did it.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the “team” around me. @bellabondini and her “Marathon doesn’t care” mantra getting me out of the door in the dark. @offthatcouchfitness and his patience with me while I was trying to learn to breathe under load again. @blizardphysio and the hours spent on the massage bed unlocking my muscles and keeping me injury free. @ucdon_highperformancecentre helping me understand my new normal. @tritrainingtoots, @helenflintos and @rrodgers85 who helped me on training runs. @dayonetrauma who helped me deal with my trauma after my physical recovery was complete. And lastly @yorkiekab who took it upon herself to get me over the finish line by being selfless and signing up to the race in one of the kindest acts I’ve ever witnessed.

The last 19 weeks has proven to me that with the right mindset and right support, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Thank you to everyone who played a part.

London is the best race I’ve ever done in terms of atmosphere. It’s just on another level. 26 miles of crowds cheering you on. Urging you to keep moving forwards.

📍Manchester Marathon 2026!

Goal 1. Set out to enjoy wearing the vest. I did
Goal 2. Maybe secure a place in Berlin 2027 (Sub 2.55).

Secret Goal 3 was only in my head. The course was great. The conditions perfect. Sooo ⬇️

I started with the 2:45 pacer. First time I have done it. @morrisrunner83 ran it perfectly, constantly updating anyone in earshot. We just had to run and trust him.

⏱️ 2:44:50 - sub 2:45 club.

What a great event. So well supported. So much noise, music, bands, DJs. Volunteers brilliant. Thats how to do it Manchester!

Thank you @blizardphysio for removing doubt.

Sorry for being a Run Bore for so long.

Broken my 2 running rules;
Never post a kit photo pre race.
Never wear new kit on race day.

As long as I make it to Old Trafford on time tomorrow, I will be running for England Age Group in the home nations part of Manchester Marathon 2026.

I am not chasing my York time down with intent. This training block has been less intense whilst still consistent.

I have a couple of time goals in mind. But I want set out to enjoy this race.

Really looking forward to what they say is a brilliant atmosphere and race day experience. Manchester we are all coming for you.

Running’s always been the place where my head goes quiet, where I don’t overthink, I just switch off and be present. Being injured the last few months, I really felt that space missing.

Today was my first run back. No rushing, no ego, just listening to my body and enjoying being out there again. I still want to push myself, I just understand my body better now.

I’m building back towards the @super_halfs Lisbon Half Marathon on March 8th as part of the @wellchild running team, and it feels good to be running with a bit of purpose behind it.

Huge thank you to Jenny at @blizardphysio genuinely wouldn’t be back running without the work, patience and honesty through rehab.

Built, tested and lived in with @viborun real runs, real process.

That’s it! My last “long” run before @ironman_uk Leeds is done.

Am I where I want to be? No, not really. But that’s just how it is.

A combination of life and injuries means I’m not quite there. Will I get round next week? Absolutely as I’m stubborn and it’s my last triathlon before an enforced rest due to my injury as I’m having an operation in August.

I need a nerve freeing in my elbow to release a nerve which has caused (and I quote) “significant” muscle wastage in my left hand. Which is annoying as it means I’ve had to cancel my trip to Worlds in Australia in October. C’est la vie.

I’m even having to tape my hand to swim as I have no control over my little or index fingers when swimming. Thankfully the race referee next week has okayed me racing with my fingers strapped together. Having barely swam for the last 8 weeks I was pleased to get round 3k at @lake.yorks on Friday night. It’s a lush venue.

At the start of the year I’d barely run in 15 months after something killed any enjoyment I had for running. I contacted @offthatcouchfitness to see if they could help me get ready for Leeds and Worlds. And he’s been ace in the background keeping my head in the right place and being there while my head went all over the place with my hand issue. With his help and the help of Jenny from @blizardphysio I have a plan for next week that will get me round the run.

I’m pleased with how far I’ve biked in the run up to Leeds (I just wish it was a bit flatter) especially with the life events that have also happened in the background. I married my best friend @bellabondini and we had an ace wedding and honeymoon. Oh and we moved into our forever home. And she’s been a rock as I juggled life and training. And she’s helped me stay off beer and do my training with her fave quote of the last 8 months. “Ironman doesn’t care”. Thank you!

See you at the finish line @ironman_uk where I can get my #youareanironman moment 11 years after Austria.

Big thank you to Jenny and Caroline at @blizardphysio for managing to squeeze me in at such short notice today. Had a little fall in the nationals which is not ideal but lucky to have the help from the blizard team to try and have a quick turn around ready for the next race.
