Just so happens to be a time where Afeni Shakur’s book is back in rotation while running back the new #ADifferentWorld and well, that inspired a booklist for the show 🫶🏾✨📚

While @broccolicity was full of electrifying performances, undeniable vibes, and exciting activations from brands like @viaraewines and @siennanaturals, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to engage with the many Black creatives who were enjoying themselves at the festival.

So for @blkcreatives, I asked the simple question: “What does Black creativity mean to you?”

✨💛🖤✨

As #blkcreatives founder @melissa_kimble has said, “This world does not move without Black creativity,” so it was important for me to hear what empowers and encourages us to do what we do.

✨💛🖤✨

Many thanks to the amazing business and creatives who shared their insight – this kind of field reporting was a blast. I appreciate you all so much!

For each city visited during their Community Days, @oooolajuwon told me he creates a custom designed poster ✍🏾 and how it features a picture has a specific backstory important to @eastsidegolf’s ⛳️ legacy.

That level of attention and intention takes genuine care and time, an energy that was very present during their Memphis stop ✨

Thanks for showing love again to Memphis #eastsidegolf, @_channymack your heart for people is so inspiring to witness in action - ⚡️♥️

Monday’s @blkcreatives newsletter will have details on a giveaway for these posters 🫶🏾

The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.

James Baldwin

We can’t ignore the suffering and killing of children in Gaza, the DRC and various other parts of the world including right here in America. 14,000 children have been killed in Gaza since Oct 7th. Children in the DRC are being recruited and used by armed groups and being killed and mutilated by the thousands. Meanwhile, Gun violence is the leading cause of death for American children. We are witnessing genocide and ignoring these atrocities not only perpetuates the cycle of violence but also erodes the fabric of humanity. Each child’s infinite potential becomes stifled by the horrors of war and inherent fear of being fatally harmed. Addressing their anguish is not an act of charity but a moral imperative to uphold human rights and secure a future where peace can flourish over the persistent echoes of violence.
