The National Museum of the Aftermath is open for just a few more days - stop by before August 8th to experience Cauleen Smith’s speculative museum.

The National Museum of the Aftermath is a space to gather and strategize. It is a container, not a space for observation. While you’re here you can pick up a free printed broadsheet with an interview between Cauleen Smith and Dr. Regina Freer, browse a collection of selected texts in the museum’s reading room, and respond to the prompt the National Museum of the Aftermath poses - “In the wake of the uncountable endings our history contains, how do we build resistant relationships to the permanence of racism?”

Open hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 4pm through August 8th

I didn’t take many photos on my phone because frankly, I just wasn’t on it much. But here’s what I do have from @archival.bootcamp , a one-week artist-archivist’s residency in the highlands of Spain, led by the incomparable @xcamilak

An Instagram post is not nearly enough space to express my gratitude for the lessons, wisdoms, laughter and friends made. I am indebted to you all, really. And thank you all for bearing with Ilaria, Avery and I’s kooky sonic archive - act of transfer exercise (performance studies nerds stay up). We made music, which might be liquid architecture. Or maybe buildings are sound solidified. Whatever Goethe said.

💫Avery Collins Byrd (@blksalome__ ) examinate alternative geographies and how new cartographies are created through the apparatus of marginal survival; such as fleeing, joy and placemaking.
🌸Nour Almazidi’s (@nuralmazidi ) work explores the entanglements of death, memory, grief, and archival practice. Moving across oral history, storytelling, photography, and occultic archival methods, her project forges alternative ways of staying tethered to the dead.

I am thankful to the present authors, scholars, practitioners and artists who shared their energy. Respect to your craft and action!
I can still feel the reverberations of the ancestors who have moved on. Their light shines upon us.
The force don’t stop.
I was inspired to make some images and do the research to develop my practice.
Look to the horizon.
