POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In a recent episode of the Backroom Podcast, Amy of Bloom Trust Co reminded me that success does not always lie in a specific number and that it looks different for everyone. I know this, but it can be easy to forget! Yes, I can't pay the bills in hugs & thank yous, but they sure do fuel me to keep going on this unique, somewhat scenic route, one that I've purposely chosen. Here's what our success looked like this weekend:

-Got to make homecoming court flowers and received so much gratitude from the families, some of whom used the flowers to make their own bouquets for the dance!

-First pop up of the season at Sweetwood was slammed! Got to see so many beautiful faces we'd been missing and met lots of new friends. Built and tested some totems for broken arch installations and they were great! Despite the heat, the fall vibes were strong and dare I say...it was a few degrees cooler than usual?!

-Bought some delicious sourdough from Eonia Microbakery who was also at the Sweetwood pop up! Hot tip from the baker herself...slice it up and freeze it, toast on demand. It was SO good w a little apple butter this morning.

-My right hand, Rania, made some GORGEOUS bouquets and was always a step ahead. She helped us get out on time so I could go see my daughter perform at Tota for their Make a Wish Foundation benefit concert.

-Always being reminded of the circle of life...was honored to create florals for a memorial held at Rusty Bellies and ended the day with the JOYOUS news of cousin Kara's engagement to a pretty awesome guy, Presidente Mason!

Keep doing you, kids! Stay Gold! You can't go wrong with FULL HEARTS. Pretty sure of that.

Been a while since I introduced myself, so here it goes... I’m Amy. In 2009, I founded Botanical Brouhaha, a blog dedicated to inspiring and supporting floral designers, farmer florists, and flower lovers - which eventually evolved into a community with a podcast, a resource hub called @bloomtrustco, and a deeper-dive family of floral CIRCLES (more on that on a different day).

Since I rarely take the time to introduce myself, you might be wondering who in the world is behind a community with such an odd name. Well, here are a few things about me:

🌿I love meaningful conversation! Small talk and socializing? Not so much. Diving deep into understanding another person’s perspective? Sign me up. (Also: we don’t have to agree!)

🌿I love flowers (obviously), but I love people so much more which is the direction I always seem to be moving in as a flower business owner (not so obvious - in fact, I don’t even understand how to write a job description around that, but I keep following my heart anyway).

🌿I’m deeply driven by a desire to understand the unique opportunities, challenges, and even limitations (yes, I said it 😳) of the floral profession as a career path.

🌿For the majority of my career I balanced owning a flower business with being a dental hygienist which I loved!

🌿What would I be doing if I wasn’t in the flower business? Pretty sure I’d be an investigative reporter. I’ve got A LOT of questions about the way things work and a deep desire to uncover the crap we try to hide.

Thanks for being here! We have some meaningful work ahead. I hope you’ll be right there with me on the journey!

I appreciate you!! xo

An arrangement from my garden this summer— ready for delivery 🪏

One of my favorite ways to connect with flower colleagues — interviewing them for the Botanical Brouhaha podcast 🎙️

My office is packed with floral resources galore!

Another favorite way to connect — intimate gatherings with Bloom Trust Co members and floral experts✨

We’re incredibly lucky to have innovators like Sue McLeary drop by Bloom Trust Co to share new techniques🌸

First time I’ve ever had a plot in a community garden and I’m loving it! 🌿

I didn’t even know this was a “job” when I started. Heck, I didn’t even know it was a “thing” until I was somehow in the middle of doing it! 🤪

I just followed my heart and kept doing the things that made me feel happy and fulfilled - not what made sense financially or otherwise. Probably not great business advice, but still my truth and that’s all I ever promise.
