Last year, we witnessed L.N. Tallur’s (@tallurln) Data Weave take shape, from the making of the sculpture to its installation.

But how does a sculpture that begins with beeswax, thread and the ancient dhokra technique arrive at an idea as contemporary as data?

Hundreds of handmade wax coils were layered and shaped before being cast in bronze through the lost-wax process.

From wax to fire, from craft to computation, from the familiar to the unexpected, Data Weave asks us to look again. And perhaps that is where freedom lives too: somewhere between what we inherit, what we are experiencing now, and what we are yet to imagine.

We return to the question that continues to stay with us: What does freedom mean here, now and elsewhere?
