One of my favorite things to do every month is catch the Writers Round hosted by @ramblerkane at @bluejayjax. I swear, every time I go I leave having discovered another artist whose music I add to my playlist.

People ask me all the time how I find these incredible musicians and bands that nobody’s ever heard of. Then I hear people complain that “there’s no good live music around here.”

I hate to break it to you, but there’s a TON of great music happening right under our noses. You just have to get out and support it.

Go see a band you’ve never heard of. Buy a ticket to a writers round where you don’t recognize a single name on the lineup. Take a chance on a show without knowing what to expect.

Some of the best live music experiences I’ve ever had came from walking into a room with absolutely no idea who was about to play.

There’s a whole world of incredibly talented musicians out there playing small rooms, telling stories, and sharing songs you’ll never hear on the radio.

Get out, support these venues and artists, and discover something new. You’ll be surprised what you’ve been missing.

Here’s a few of my fav songs from the eve by:

Biblically accurate self portrait to announce some shows. Buy a ticket, take the ride!

11/11 (solo) @eopresents with @tapdancindaddy & @juliabarfieldmusic

12/17 (full band 😈) @theroyalamerican opening for @sustoisreal

12/18 (solo) @bluejayjax opening for @sustoisreal

I’ve been playing a lot of pedal steel on the road these days and will be continuing that trend at these Susto shows! I’ll also be sitting in at the legendary @eddiesattic this Sunday as well and it’ll be a hoot.
