Join us at the historic @grandintheatre on October 27 at 6:00 pm ET to celebrate our newest BUZZ starring Renovation Alliance!

Event is free. Doors open 5:30 pm.

About the show:

Food, clothing and shelter may be our three basic needs, but in the modern world, shelter is the trickiest to provide. Even if you have a house, it can be expensive to maintain, especially if you’re disabled or, like seniors and veterans, living on a fixed income.

Thankfully in Roanoke, Virginia, homeowners have help and hope for costly repairs and renovations, and on today’s episode of BUZZ, we feature a nonprofit that has created what’s needed in this critical renovation work … an alliance.

New to this alliance – and our show! – is @hello.roanoke Genya Kalinina, who provides the nonprofit with some much needed social media marketing buzz!

We thank Dayna Patrick of @patrickteamhomes for underwriting this episode airs October 28 on @blueridgepbs.

Climate activist and writer Mike Tidwell's recent book The Lost Trees of Willow Avenue will be the subject of a fascinating new PBS documentary in July. It's part of a novel PBS series called "Sacred Ground with Tim Daly" that focuses on the heroic work of several North American climate activists like Tidwell.

Episode two stays true to Tidwell's riveting book, chronicling the impacts of climate change on his one DC-area street, from dying trees to Lyme disease to chronic flooding. It also captures the inspiring work of people fighting back, like Tidwell's neighbor and climate activist Congressman Jamie Raskin. Bill McKibben also makes a cameo appearance. Check your local PBS station for details or stream the episode as part of PBS's Passport subscription service starting July 1st.

Zoom was a popular, Emmy-winning children's television show that aired on PBS in two main iterations: the original from 1972–1978 and a revival from 1999–2005, both produced by WGBH Boston. The show featured a diverse cast of kids who presented skits, games (like "Fannee Doolee"), crafts ("ZOOMdo"), and activities (like the secret language Ubbi Dubbi) that encouraged viewer participation, creativity, and environmental awareness. #pbs #pbskids #old #revival #1970s
