Okay fact checkers and stat's people. If I get on the podium in July will I be Australia's number one,all time, Ultra-Tri Podium Boy? (to be honest,I think I may already be there at 4).

It’s more than just a blue tree 💙🌳

Our Perth team has once again picked up the brushes for @bluetreeproject - helping turn a tree at Mineral Resources Park blue to spark conversations around mental health!

We’re proud to have supported this incredible initiative for many years.

A huge shout out to @unitedforkliftandaccess for donating the EWP that helped make it happen! 🙌

“Why is that tree blue?...”
This question sparks a conversation that can change everything.
Blue Trees, standing across the globe are powerful symbols of mental health awareness - silent yet unwavering reminders that you’re never alone.

Last week, our campus community came together to unveil and paint UWA’s first Blue Tree as part of WA Mental Health Week 💙

This year’s theme, ‘Together We Thrive’, highlights the importance of connection, community and looking out for one another.

By coming together to paint the tree blue, volunteers helped bring this message to life and raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention.

Started by UWA alum Kendall Whyte, the Blue Tree Project uses blue trees as a symbol of hope and a reminder to check in on those around us. It’s also a reminder that it’s okay not to be okay, and that we all have a part to play in making mental health a more open conversation.

We hope the Blue Tree will continue to be a reminder to look out for one another and that no one has to go through things alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, UWA and the Guild have a range of services available. Find more information and resources through the link in our bio.

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, and it got me thinking… Do you know why some trees around Australia are painted blue?

It’s part of the Blue Tree Project, a movement that started in Western Australia to get people talking about mental health after Jayden Whyte took his own life. The goal is to break down the stigma and remind people that they’re not alone.

The trees are painted blue as Jayden decided to play a prank on his dad by painting a dead tree blue. This story was shared at his funeral and from there a meaningful tradition was born. Painting these trees blue sparks attention, get us asking questions, and hopefully start conversations that might otherwise never happen.

And I think that's something worth talking about.

Mental health is something I've struggled with myself throughout the years. It's not always something you can see from the outside, and it's not always something you know how to talk about. Sometimes you keep going, get on with life and put one foot in front of the other, even when things feel heavier than you'd like people to know.

I think that's why the message behind these trees means so much. Because you never really know what someone else is going through, what they're carrying quietly or how much effort it takes just to get through the day.

We don't need to have all the answers. We don't need to know exactly what to say. Sometimes it's as simple as checking in, genuinely asking someone how they're going and making them feel like they can be honest about the answer.

And if you're the person who's struggling, please know you don't have to wait until things get really bad to speak up. You don't have to pretend you're okay just because life keeps moving around you.

Let's keep talking about mental health, not just on one day of the year, but all year round. 💙

Have you seen the Blue Tree at Kirwan Police Station?

The Blue Tree Project is a mental health charity and now with over 1600 blue trees painted, they are sparking open and meaningful conversations around mental health.

We’ve got a few Blue Trees popping up over Thuringowa, with the latest painted just last week at Riverway.

Thanks to Kirwan Police Station Officer in Charge Senior Sergeant Matt Lyons for explaining the symbolism of the Blue Tree.
