Before Blue Tree Project, there was just one blue tree, standing quietly in the middle of a paddock.

This is the story of how a light-hearted joke between mates became something far bigger than anyone could have imagined 💙 by @bluetreeproject

Real impact isn't always in grand gestures and big moments...

Sometimes it starts with an old tree painted blue, standing out in the middle of a paddock, and a simple "why is that tree blue?"

Because the change isn't in the blue tree itself, but the conversations that stem from it. The check-ins between mates and families, the stigma challenged in the places mental health isn't spoken about and the quiet reminder that no one has to feel alone or stay silent about what they're going through 💙 by @bluetreeproject

There's a lot more to Blue Tree Project than blue paint.

It's the mates checking in on each other, learning how to support someone who's doing it tough and kids growing up in a world where they know it's ok to reach out for help when they need it.

The blue trees get people talking, but it's the people who keep those conversations about mental health going 💙 by @bluetreeproject

If you’d told Simon 10 years ago he’d end up working in mental health, he probably wouldn’t have believed you.

Swipe through to see how a blue tree, a Facebook post and the decision to do something meaningful in the wake of losing his best mate shaped the work Simon does today 💙 by @bluetreeproject

Last week was HUGE 💬

We loved getting out in the community this Mental Health Week, having lots of good yarns and seeing so many people get behind changing the way we talk about mental health.

The week might be over, but the work doesn’t end here. Let's keep showing up, sparking convos and chipping away at stigma all year round 💙 by @bluetreeproject

Blue hands, happy faces and Saturday sunshine ☀️

We wrapped up Mental Health Week with Blue Tree at the Park, bringing families together for a morning of painting, footy and a bit of fun with the local community.

Mental Health Week might be over but looking after ourselves and the people around us doesn't stop here. Sometimes it's as simple as getting outside, doing something you enjoy or making time for your people 💙 by @bluetreeproject

Our very first Big Blue Quiz Night was certainly one for the books!

A few questionable answers, some very creative team names 😅 and a room full of people who came along for a laugh, a yarn and a reminder to check in on each other.

Between the trivia and plenty of laughs, the night also raised funds to help us keep getting out into communities across Australia and sparking convos about mental health.

A big thanks to everyone who came along and helped make it all happen 💙 by @bluetreeproject

What better way to kick off mental health week than painting a blue tree and a free donut? 🍩

The @uwastudentguild invited us down to campus this morning to bring their new blue tree sculpture to life with their community.

It’s a reminder that asking for support doesn’t have to wait until things get really tough. Have a yarn with a mate, drop into the uni wellbeing service or reach out for professional support.

Help is never as far away as it can seem 💙

October is Mental Health Month, and this week is WA Mental Health Week. This year’s theme is ‘Together We Thrive’, highlighting the importance of connection, community and looking out for one another. 💙

To mark WA Mental Health Week, UWA and the UWA Student Guild have installed the first Blue Tree on campus to help raise awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, and to encourage more open conversations about mental health.

The Blue Tree Project was started by UWA alum Kendall Whyte, with blue trees serving as a symbol of hope and a reminder to check in on those around you. The installation is also a reminder that it’s okay not to be okay, and that talking about mental health should be something we can all feel comfortable doing.

This morning, volunteers from across our campus community came together to help paint the tree blue. It was a simple way to bring people together, start conversations and show that we all have a part to play in looking out for each other.

We hope this Blue Tree will continue to be a reminder of that long after today, and that our community can keep coming together to support one another.

If you or someone you know needs support, UWA and the Guild have a range of services available. You can find more information and resources through the link in bio. by @bluetreeproject

A little reminder from this mob 🦘

Every time you spot a blue tree, let it be a nudge to check in. On how you’re going, the mate you haven’t seen in a while, or someone who’s been on your mind.

And if you’re the one doing it tough, reach out to someone you trust or a support service. You don’t have to carry it on your own.

A quick yarn, message or cuppa can go a long way. The more openly we talk about mental health, the more we show people there’s space to speak up too 💙 by @bluetreeproject

Tonight we welcomed our sponsors, board members and friends down at the Tree House to celebrate a huge year and most importantly, say thank you.

So much of what we do is made possible by the people who genuinely believe in what we’re doing and keep backing us to get out into communities and do it.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We’re very grateful to have you in our corner 💙 taken in Perth, Western Australia by @bluetreeproject
