Fakie 💜 @ blochaus mkv

I had the absolute pleasure of testing the newest set and learning this move from the experts @bluu.rock @thecoolestkid @ommydays_ @minnettsets

First fakie ever and it felt super impossible and unnatural at the start. The cues we ran through were firstly, focus on swinging with straight arms, launching with the back leg first and really pulling off the last swing to get as much momentum. I got the move quite quickly but it was hard to hold the landing, took a lot of focusing on keeping my hips in. The most important cue @bluu.rock gave me was: focus on getting the right leg straight so I can step up onto that. Whilst it’s possible to stop in the middle, the left foot is too close to the wall while the right is a massive ledge, so transferring the weight onto that makes for an easy no hands landing.

I couldn’t land the move before the setters finished up, but I went away, watched a movie and came back at 10pm to land it. The key differences for me that made it a lot easier to do what Brian was saying was; do one less swing before launching (3 down to 2) and focusing on really launching my hips and landing on the left foot, so I could fall into the right on a straight leg and pendulum over. Some small other things like wearing comfier shoes, landing on softer feet and keeping the tension engaged was very helpful advice @steph_climb_maxxing

I think it’s very repeatable now that I know these things, after a bit of warming up I was getting the step up onto right foot every time, was just very low on skin and energy, looking forward to doing it again tomorrow and trying to not use the hand to stop momentum hopefully.

Thank you to the @blochaussyd setting team for all the advice and for letting me try this move, was super super fun as always. Amazing climb set by @bluu.rock and the rest of the set was super fun, great work team. Blochaus will always have a special place in my heart ❤️
