Orange season 2026

I didn’t want to make this post, simply because i didn’t want to leave this season behind. I started my second year in marshalling excited for all the racing and could never have imagined where i’d be at the end. This is my biggest and most favourite hobby alongside journalism, and the two combined have created massive opportunities.

I was interviewed at Oulton Park GTs by MSUK about my role as a cadet marshal, and then interviewed by the very lovely Thomas Potter as part of his social media presence at Oulton BTCC. I’ve been recognised in the paddock by drivers (my favourite driver may i add), team personnel, and the general public. I’ve spent hours and hours with my best friends laughing and getting soaked and getting sunburnt and everything in between.

A massive thank you to the people who allow me to do this, my family, the wonderful governing bodies who are the faces behind this which brings us all so much joy. There’s been tears alongside all the happiness, and moments where others have made it a not-so-pleasant experience, but having the whole team behind me made it easy to deal with those situations.

I owe these overalls a lot, they’ve helped me stand out against the sea of girls in my exact position, wanting to get exactly where i want to go, so maybe being a highlighter (thanks Paul O’Neill) isn’t so bad after all. Hopefully that first slide sums up my mood whenever i’m at a racetrack in that satsuma suit.

To my Orange Family, thank you, love you, see you next year. Penny 🧡

🏁 Calling the next generation of marshals! 🏁

Myself and Matt (hi 👋 if your new here) have been chatting about something we both feel really strongly about… marshalling needs to be talked about more! 👀

It’s a huge part of motorsport, but we don’t think enough younger people know just how much there is to get involved withand that’s a shame, because you’re the future of our marshalling community! 🙌

Marshalling isn’t just standing trackside waving flags.
It’s a chance to…

🏎️ Get right at the heart of motorsport.
🧠 Learn new skills and gain confidence.
🩹 Build valuable first aid & incident-response skills.
🤝 Meet people and make friends from all over the country.
📚 Gain experience that can open doors to other opportunities.
🔥 Be part of the action and learn something new every time you’re out!

So… we’ve decided to stop talking about it and do something about it! 💪

We want to build a community for new and aspiring marshals, somewhere you can ask all the questions, get hands-on experience, learn from experienced marshals and connect with like minded people from across the country. 🤩

Whether you’ve never marshalled before, you’re thinking about giving it a go, or you’ve already got a little experience under your belt… we want to hear from you! ⭐️

Interested? Drop us a message, comment below or tag someone who you think would love to get involved.

And please SHARE this post you never know who might be the next person to pick up a flag and become part of our amazing marshalling community. 🧡

Let’s build the next generation of marshals together! 🏎️💨

Back at the London E-Prix, we had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with some of the amazing trackside marshals from the @bmmcuk, learning more about the vital work they do to help keep race events running safely.

Marshals are the beating heart of motorsport, so it was fantastic to go behind the scenes and see what life is like at one of their posts at ExCeL London 🏁

🎥 Behind-the-scenes video coming soon…

🧡 One taster day was all it took…

From watching motorsport to becoming part of the “Orange family”, marshalling opened up a whole new side of the sport.

Closer to the action, new friendships and a community that looks out for one another – it’s easy to see why Penny fell in love with marshalling.

Sometimes, you’ve just got to give it a go. 🏁
