Y2 Architectural Design One Studio: Unbuilt Visions of the East
Instructor: Stefan Svedberg @stefsved
Students: Nutaya "Beamy" Pimolsaengsuriya @bmy.np and Weerada "Mint" Chalermnont @mintwrda

Cities are places where both problems emerge and solutions are found. A place for culture and innovation, individuality and collective creativity. But what really defines a city? Beamy's project explores the city as a 3-dimensional grid that challenges the monotony and monolithic qualities of megastructures by introducing aggregates of small figures and forms creating small scale local situations and pockets within a massive infrastructure. She proposes a disruption of the traditional urban-like horizontal organizational hierarchy, in which she collides various urban typologies, structures, and programs into a 3-dimensional grid and develops a formal strategy using figurative solids aggregated together to create porosity, repetition, rhythm and programmatic distribution.

Mint's project, "The Digital Monument," merges and blurs the distinction between physical and digital on multiple levels. It is a typology of building arising from cultural and social phenomena and the development of the internet. The internet itself is envisioned as a virtual monument of immersive media on an all encompassing global scale. The monument depicts various spaces for digital-physical interactions that span multiple scales, where our physical existence merges with the internet. Users interface with this virtual monument at varying levels of immersiveness through various sensory experiences delivered through a series of technological apparatus. The project interrogates our emerging relationship with the internet and physical world. #cuinda #inda #chulalongkornuniversity #architecture #architectureschool #architecturestudent #architecturemodel #architecturedrawings #archistudent
