Regeneration With Soul♥️🏢

Stockport is officially one of the coolest places in the UK, according to @timeouttravel.
I loved working on WEIR:LIVE for social impact redevelopment company Capital&Centric, to curate + produce a free community focussed event at its freshly completed Weir Mill development.
From the outset, the idea was to root the event in Stockport & celebrate the people, music and creative talent that make the place what it is. I brought in @chrismasseycreates - an experienced & respected local promoter and record label owner who knows his onions. We have worked together before and he knows the Stockport scene well.
Together we curated a line-up that was a reflection of the town’s vibrant talent.
13 ace local DJs inc @aanniewoodd @acr.mcr @bobby_thorpee @hannah_pangolin__ @stemaccamcdonald @muddyfeetuk @odioba_sk playing everything from soul to techno, the joyous and uplifting Stockport @popvoxchoir choir, the super fun @playhouseproject featuring @jeni_chan_aka_pokerhontas75 and MC Kwasi, @hba_studio_ face painter and hat bar that barely stopped all afternoon, kids off screens and learning new skills with the circus workshop, and around four thousand people turning up to enjoy it all in the sunshine!☀️
The atmosphere was bouncing.
All the operators got involved too and were super busy. Big shout out to @socialosteria for supplying delicious pizzas for our crew and to @beartownbrewery keeping the artists hydrated! ♥️

Return of the @maccalaaa 🧤

The NTS radio people’s champion and certified Scouse party starter makes his long-awaited debut at the @goldenlion_todmorden , as he joins us for our return upstairs on Friday 16 October.

Rally your crew and venture out to Todmorden (just a 30-min train from Manc) as we dive into heavy cosmic club sounds with plenty of his mic antics - be warned.

Early door start from 8pm with a very sensible finish time of 1am, it’s easy to blag a taxi back to Manc also.

We know it’s rough out there atm, so we’ve added a sound amount of £5 tickets to the link. Support the cause and buy before the night.

Catch you in the Pennines party people!

FINE // It's Tuesday again and the abyss stretches out ahead of us once more - how do we fill the void? How to plan for a future that doesn't exist? I suppose it's been stolen from us, like an existential Private Finance Initiative. Nice one Tony you piece of shit. It's been a long weekend and it's a long week ahead.

WEDNESDAY// We'll be open and there'll be nice snacks on the bar, I'll be in Liverpool watching/listening at a @kon.former/@atm_musick/@boardnado gig. You should probably go.

THURSDAY// Steak night sizzles back around, bavettes on the grill, Matt on the bar. Not written the menu so no idea what the sauce will be yet, answers on a postcard. We take requests, we just don't listen if they're shite. There will certainly be chips so you'll all be fine, ketchup on request for the children.

LUNCH // On Thursday and Friday we routinely attempt to sell lunch to people. It doesn't go well because everyone's at work. But if you're knocking about or pretending to work from home come on down, the menu is decent.

SUNDAY // Some sort of birthday party is going on. It's been 4 years since we opened and I largely regret most of it, so we're going for Reddish Ale v5.0 rather than celebrating the past. I believe that in hospitality the fifth year of a business is when everything gets easier and you start making money or something so I'm leaning into that. What can we do next? Can we reclaim the future stolen by our greedy, genocidal overlords? Perhaps we won't get heads on spikes yet, but we can have a nice little party, hold tightly to each other, celebrate friendship, joy and working class people bothering to do nice things. We've got top lads on the records, a red lager to launch and I'll knock up some nice dinner - easy puzzle pieces sliding together. Pint? Pint.
