Some tableware I made for MASS Gallery’s 20th Anniversary dinner, a collaboration with Chef @luna__vela of Neighborhood Molino.

Luna and I have been wanting to collaborate for 4 years, so I’m especially grateful for the invitation to create together and for this beautiful purpose. Clay-baked fish, hoja santa, cal made from fired oyster shells for the masa, fermented colonche, etc. — all cooked in the earth oven.

I spent months experimenting and communing with my ancestors, my guides, and my trees. I reduced bark from a 100+ year-old oak tree on our property and used the bark tannins to formulate a dye for the first time, a process found across many Indigenous traditions. The splatter technique I used is predominant in Tonaltepec, Oaxaca, and was first introduced to me by my mentor and Zapotec potter, Martha Alicia Jimenez @mujer_barro, who recommended the book “Barro y Fuego”.

This has become some of my favorite work to date. I’ll be releasing pieces from this collection on the site.

Thank you @massgallery for welcoming us, and congratulations on 20 years! Tlazocomati Luna, Nay, Tanya, Brennan, Xavier, Juan, and the many angels who supported us along the way.

perhaps the most important fit pic to ever hit the grid. my wedding look ❣️

dress handmade from etsy. went to @roomshop for a custom bag of course, who happened to have the perfect organza to match my dress then meticulously filled it with pink, white, and red silk flowers. it held my folded paper vows perfectly. shoes from @loefflerrandall that have the most gorgeous matching sheen to my dress. did my own hair and makeup because I’m nothing if not cheap and particular. I can’t wait to rewear this dress on anniversaries or other special occasions, maybe over pants or with a different mini dress layered underneath. it was really important to me for this dress to be unique, affordable, and rewearable ✨✨✨
