I know I haven’t been flooding your feed with Black Lives Matter content. I have been thinking and feeling a lot about this.
As a small business owner and a human, I feel a responsibility to not only donate, protest, educate myself and be involved, but also make decisions and actions that continue to bring CHANGE.
I don’t want this movement to fade. I don’t want us to be back in this place next year.
I can’t jump on performative bandwagons to quell my white guilt. This is something I have chosen to sit with and explore. It’s uncomfortable. But it’s necessary. I have many ideas for the future. I want to be part of the Wilkinsburg community, not gentrification. I take this very seriously and please know that I am planning and reaching out and working on changing myself so I can effect the world positively. I will keep updating you on the progress I’m making, and you can keep holding me accountable. If there are any non-profit organizations in Wilkinsburg that you believe in and support, please let me know. If you have any constructive ideas on how I can give back to Wilkinsburg, I’m listening. Keep fighting, educating yourself, practicing self-care, love, support. We have a long road ahead. This movement is a way of life. .

Meant to post these last week but I was booked solid all weekend and finally am trying to play catch up today! These #selfies are from a beautiful performance I was blessed to be part of with my dear friends @carolina.loyola.garcia @eriklawrencemusic Jeff Berman and Jon Bañuelos for a concert at @jamessimonsculpture studio! I got to connect musically with @deannawit and the entire evening was a stunning example of what can happen when musicians from different paths and traditions come together to speak and sing in the international language of music, creativity and love. I’ll try to get some video up later, but if you haven’t checked Carolina and Jon on my podcast “Pittsburgh Phamous” go check it out. They’re amazing. #flamenco #jazz #art #community #Pittsburgh

In a strange parallel universe, where a small flamenco studio exists in the most unlikely of places, ‘Flamenco Dancer’ by Bob Ziller now hangs on the wall. @bobzillerart Thanks Bob! #dancestudio #flamenco #danceandart #flamencopittsburgh #artistlife
