Overnight temperatures are dropping, and park restroom winterization has begun 💧🚻❄️

Boise Parks and Recreation maintenance team members are starting the multi-week process of winterizing park drinking fountains, irrigation systems and bathrooms. Did you know❓Our department is responsible for the maintenance of more than 80 park restroom facilities across the city!

While some restrooms in Boise parks are heated and open year-round, others must be winterized and closed during the winter months to protect the pipes and infrastructure and prevent costly damage. That includes DeMeyer Park, where our team completed the restroom winterization today (Thursday, October 22). A portable restroom that is serviced regularly is available throughout the colder months at this West Boise park location.

Signage is posted at restrooms that close until spring, including magnets with QR codes that list seasonal bathroom options. You can also view park restroom information to help plan ahead at the link in our bio 🔗

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we work to protect park infrastructure, keep things sanitary, and serve residents in every season! Restrooms will re-open in mid-April as the weather warms up.

Park improvements coming to the Central Bench 🛝✨🌳

Upgrades to Liberty Park (520 N. Liberty Street) are underway! The aging playground has already been removed — it was the oldest in the department’s inventory, so it’s time for some new and exciting equipment. Renderings of the red, white and blue design chosen by the community are included in this post 🤩❤️💙

Plus, this 9-acre neighborhood park is getting new pathways, landscaping and a permanent restroom! 🎉

These improvements will create a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming experience at Liberty Park. The new park features are expected to open next summer (2027). 🗓️

Join us Saturday, October 17 starting at 11 a.m. for an official dedication and ribbon cutting for the new single-track bike trails, asphalt pump track, nature playground, accessible pathways, fenced off-leash dog park and basketball court at this West Boise regional park! The party continues in partnership with the Centennial Neighborhood Association until 4 p.m. with:
