When people see a rescue dog happily settled into their forever home, they often don’t see the incredible team of people who helped make that journey possible.

Over the past few weeks, Burt has had quite the adventure. He travelled to Bondi Vet Hospital to see the amazing Dr Mary for his BOAS surgery, a procedure that will help him breathe easier and enjoy life so much more.

While recovering, Burt was welcomed into the homes of wonderful North Shore Dog Rescue carers who opened their hearts and homes to him, making sure he could attend his follow-up appointments and heal safely.

After a week in Sydney, Burt made the trip back to Newcastle where another dedicated carer stepped in to continue his recovery journey before he eventually will return to me. Every hand-off, every car ride, every vet appointment, every overnight stay, every medication schedule, every cuddle, and every check-in was made possible by people who simply wanted the best for one little dog.

This is the part of rescue that many people never see.
Behind every successful adoption is a village of compassionate humans volunteering their time, homes, vehicles, energy and love. Foster carers, transport volunteers, rescue coordinators, veterinary teams, donors and supporters all play a role in helping dogs like Burt get a second chance.

And the beautiful thing is that the dogs notice.

Burt has met so many wonderful people throughout his journey, and every one of them has shown him kindness, patience and love. Rescue teaches dogs that life can be different, that people can be trusted, and that the grass really is greener on the other side.

Now, with his surgery behind him and his recovery going beautifully, we’re hoping the next chapter in Burt’s story is finding the loving family and forever home he truly deserves. ❤️

To everyone who has been part of Burt’s journey so far, thank you. You may only have been one small part of his story, but together you’ve changed his entire life.

Here’s to the next stop on Burt’s adventure... his forever home.

There is a lot I want pet owners to know about #collagen peptides…

1/ Sooner IS better than later. Don’t leave it till your dog isn’t able to get up into the car or falling apart before starting collagen!

I had someone run past me yesterday and say, ‘I love you’re running videos’ and if somebody asked me what I’d actually like to achieve by posting these videos I’d probably land on, getting better at making making films and motivating people to move.

So, hopefully, this makes you want to move. On reflection though, presenting myself as a drowned rat at 2300 is perhaps not the best way to encourage that.
