Hey Cozy Readers 🍇✨

QOTD❗️WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO SAVE THE ONE YOU LOVE?

REIVEW: 🍇✨ House Of The Blood Fruit

by the talented — @claudiajfauthor

Thank you so much Claudia for sending me this HAUNTINGLY atmospheric read! I enjoyed every last moment of this book, down to the very last FRUIT 😉

ART by — @kowc0a_

My thoughts:

House Of The Blood Fruit was such an incredible read, although it has heavy elements of grief and loss there was something about @claudiajfauthor writing that had me SUCKED in from the first page. The setting was moody, and I love me some Folk & Botanical horror.

The village was riddled with sickness which spread throughout. Maeve’s whole purpose was to heal her sick brother Xander, and desperate was something Maeve felt in her bones!

The author did an incredible job creating a visual like you were RIGHT next to the characters. Especially the scenes in the dark forest where the forbidden fruits lie. An attempt to save Xander was the only thought in Maeve’s head.

This book showed that although, grief and loss are terrible moments to go through, it also showed being reborn back into those very same woods/earth was a strength all on its own.

I really had chills and suspense reading this one. I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of that village! And while this wasn’t a feel good story, I think the rush of desperation with the forbidden fruits were my favorite part of the story.

Bravo to @claudiajfauthor for this beautiful read thank you so much for allowing me to dive in deeper into the forest! 🍇✨

Guillotine
By: Delilah S. Dawson
Genre: Horror

Delilah S. Dawson is now one of my favorite authors. Bloom was the first book I read this year and I loved it so much I’ve been wanting to read more of her books ever since and this week the vibes brought me to Guillotine.

Described as The Menu meets Ready or Not, (but also reminiscent of Saw) this novella is the ultimate Eat the Rich story. Dez Lane came from humble beginnings but has big dreams of becoming a fashion designer. She meets Patrick Ruskin, a spoiled douchebag from a super rich family, and manipulates him into inviting her to the family island in hopes of connecting with his mother, a fashion industry icon.

What Des gets is less glamour and more gore. Less chic and more cringe. Less runway, more revenge. Less bougie, more bloody. Ok you get the picture. Turns out The Ruskins are a seriously creepy and unhinged family that take eugenics to a whole new level.

While much of this book had me wanting to cover my eyes, it was a wild fun ride with a great plot and message. I just hope I can eventually get some of these scenes out of my head….🩸😬

❓QOTD: Would you rather be poor but loved or rich but hated?

Dive Bar at the End of the Road
By Kelley Armstrong
Pub Date: 10/6/26

I had a lot of fun reading this and I finished it in two sittings because I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book was fast paced, there’s always something happening, and it never felt like it dragged.

The most unique part of this book (amongst a lot of unique elements) was that each character was pursued by there own worst fear, many of them monsters that were throwbacks to classic horror media which is very cool. 🧟

There is a main character who is Native American named Henry and written to be a lovable antithesis to Native stereotypes. However, the character of Raymond really annoyed me. He was the token over the top asshole you find in horror stories that you can guess is there so that someone can die a brutal death that we can be glad about when in reality people don’t really behave like he does even if they are an asshole. The only redeeming quality about him was that he was gay. 🌈

This is marketed as Final Destination meets The Cabin at the End of the World meets Twilight Zone which is accurate and reads like a movie itself. I think there’s some overlap between readers who enjoyed The Caretaker or Headlights and readers who will enjoy this one. It has that same mix of unexplainable mystery, weirdness, and horror, with creepy paranormal atmosphere.🖤🧟

Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!
