Book endings are very diverse: there are the unremarkable ones (the worst ones), the ones you were expecting and that leave you with a sense of gratification, the unexpected ones, the wtf ones, the ones that leave you with many questions, the sad ones...

This trend somehow reminded me that an ending doesn't have to have the perfect formula to be likeable, but it has to fit the story to make it remarkable.
For instance, if you have a very sad book and, in the end, everything is solved magically, for me it sucks because I care about the development of either the character or the plot.

The title of this post is actually not that related to book endings, but I felt the need to share my little thoughts on that theme.
●
Now, moving on to the actual matter, all of these books are novels I'd recommend (although I'd advise you to check the trigger warnings if that's something you care about).
As for the books that finished me, those are the books that destroyed me in the best possible way :)

I want to give a shout-out to The Solitude of Prime Numbers, which is not a popular book, but it deserves its space — the metaphor the title holds is excellent, and it made me cry like a baby (and I have no regrets whatsoever)

The main highlights from Beach Read by Emily Henry for me were:
Augustus Everett
Birthday letters
Second chances
Small town vibes

I am in love with the mysterious character of Gus and I could deeply relate to January’s emotions as she tried to decode the enigma that is Gus😍🫠

The story builds up slowly and so does the chemistry between Gus and January. Two different genre writers trying to explore each other's forte were out of the ordinary.

The family histories of both characters add layers of complexity to the storyline. I was hoping to know more about Gus's mother. However, the flirty banter between Gus and January makes the read fun.

If you are someone who is new to romance, then please go ahead and pick this book.

I would only go back to the book for this one line:

🎯 the amount of Colleen Hoover books I've seen on my feed is >>>> especially It Ends With Us. I've only ever read a book or two by her and I think it would be worthwhile to get my heart broken by this book so ♥️♥️

🎯 The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo because Daisy Jones by Taylor Jenkins Reid is my LIFE. and I'm sure this one will wreck and heal my heart all over again and I think I'll start with its audiobook asap.

🎯 The Night Circus is the favourite book of my favourite booktuber aka @clockwork_reads and a few friends here. it's also magical realism which I'm very very excited to read. so yeah, most excited about this one!! 🖤

There are over 3 more pages left in the diary and less than a month in this year. Both are incomprehensible to my mind. How did this happen?

I almost finished a diary and read almost 22 books, which never ever happened in any other years of my existence.

To read and to write, is to be alive!

I can sum up my experience of writing in a single quote by Anais Nin: "We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospection."

Although, sometimes it's tough to live twice. I don't want to live the pain again. I don't want the trouble of remembering something in retrospect and finding nothing except my smiling face shining with sheer happiness - the happiness that which I must have overlooked with unconscious emotions. I don't want that.

But guess what, I wrote all of that, I lived those moments twice. I like it and love it. I don't know how or why and where this is heading to, but I am not going to stop it - be it reading or writing. It's a never ending journey.

📜 The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald - The only classic I look forward to finish this year.

📜 A Passage North by Anuk Arudhpagasam - My next read, probably. Shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2021.
