Another @booksbrunchbubble September read..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A solid, atmospheric thriller that took me a little while to settle into, but once things started unfolding, I genuinely couldn’t put it down.

The storyline and overall premise were strong, and even though I did guess most of the twists, the journey was still gripping enough to keep me invested.

It’s definitely on the slower‑paced side at the beginning, and I found myself waiting for that moment when everything would click — but when it did, the tension ramped up beautifully.
Claire Douglas always knows how to build that eerie, small‑town mystery vibe, and it worked really well here.

As for the ending… I’m torn.
I didn’t hate it, but I’m not sure I loved it either. I’d have liked to know more, especially after such a compelling build‑up.
Still, the final reveal ties things together in a way that fits the tone of the story, even if it left me wanting that extra bit of depth.

Overall, a good, engaging read with a strong premise, a moody atmosphere, and enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages — even if the twists aren’t the most surprising.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A quietly powerful read — not one that swept me away, but one that undeniably stayed with me.
Across 3 different scenarios & 3 different identities, the same shadow follows every storyline: an abusive relationship and the long, aching impact it leaves on the children caught in the middle.

Whether the names matter or not almost becomes irrelevant. What matters is the constant — the abuser, the damage, and the emotional fallout that shapes each child’s life in ways they never chose. That repetition is uncomfortable, but it’s also painfully realistic.

I didn’t love this book, but I didn’t hate it either. What it did do was touch me. It felt emotionally true to situations many people live through, and that honesty hits hard. Some chapters were difficult to sit with, not because of the writing, but because of how close they come to real life.

Overall, it’s a thoughtful, unsettling, and deeply human story — one that lingers more for its emotional truth than for its plot.

My 100/100 book of my 2026 reading challenge. ✨
& this months second book for my local book club @booksbrunchbubble 🩷

And wow.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of those rare books that doesn’t just tell a story — it reaches in and grabs hold of your heart.
Every chapter is soaked in deep, raw emotion, the kind that makes you pause, breathe, and feel everything all at once.
The characters are beautifully flawed and achingly human, and the way their connection unfolds is both tender and devastating.

I found myself completely swept up in their world — rooting for them, hurting with them, hoping for them. The writing is intimate and immersive, pulling you right into the emotional storm.
And that ending… it melted and broke my heart simultaneously.
It’s the kind of finale that leaves you staring at the last page, stunned, full of feeling, and wishing you could experience it all again for the first time.

A truly beautiful, unforgettable book that lingers long after you’ve finished.

This book had me from page one. The second I started, that was it — I was gone.
Completely hooked, completely absorbed, and absolutely not putting it down until I knew everything.
The twists were twisting exactly the way I love them to: sharp, messy, deliciously chaotic, and perfectly timed.
And that ending? I definitely didn’t see it coming. I actually had to sit there for a moment like… excuse me, WHAT.

C. L. Taylor delivered tension, secrets, and betrayal in the most addictive way. An absolute must‑read for anyone who lives for a thriller that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go.
