📚 Book Review 📚 🧡 The Wedding Of The Year 🧡 By @jillmansell Publisher: @headlinebooks Published: 18/01/24 Pages: 384 Genre: Romance Tour host: @randomthingstours *Swipe for blurb and tour info* My thoughts 💭... 36 books in, and Jill has yet to write a story I haven't loved! The Wedding Of The Year is a heartwarming, feel-good story of love, friendship, kinship, secrets, lies, twists, turns, hope, loss, past heartbreak, hope, forgiveness, second chances and new beginnings. Set vividly in the beautiful county of Cornwall. As is always the case with Jill's stories, it's brilliantly plotted and well written. There are a fair few characters within the storyline. But every one of them has a purpose and are slotted in perfectly. It's a female lead story featuring four fabulously relatable characters. There's Freya, a bride to be who starts the story off with a non wedding who decides that the groom isn't who she sees her future with. Proceeding to delay things as long as possible in order to try and end things for good. Ruby is the vicars wife who finds out her husband has been having an affair and unwittingly falls into the arms of a stranger who keeps popping up in her everyday life, creating a very sweet 'will they? Won't they?' narrative. Lottie comes face to face with a familiar face from the past. But can she reignite their relationship and find love when their families are at war over past hurts. And finally, Iris, who is a good friend and an eager matchmaker who is adamant that she is a happy singleton. But can a tense meeting with a handsome stranger over the contents of a skip pull the rug from under her feet? It's a fantastic read. Perfect for a cosy night in or an afternoon around the pool, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next!!! #theweddingoftheyear #jillmansell #headlinereview #headlinebooks #randomthingstours #booktour #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookblog #bookblogger #romance #romancereaded #romanceauthor #romancereadersofinstagram #recommendedread #readinginspiration #goodreads #storygraph

🖤 2023 Reading Challenges Wrap-Up 🖤 Good morning, booksta. Before I start wrapping up my reading this year, I thought I'd start by wrapping up the challenges I completed this year. If you know me, you know I love a prompt challenge, or anything that helps me reduce my TBR. I've loved joining in these ones, and I'm looking forward to joining in more in 2024. Here's what I completed this year: 🖤 23 in 2023 🖤 My book choices this year were ones that had been on my shelf for far too long. While I found a few gems, most of them have now been read and unhauled, which for me is job done! 🖤 12 in 12 by 12 🖤 This is a great challenge as I was recommended some books which I wouldn't normally choose for myself, and there's definitely a few new authors I want to read more from! 🖤 Disney Challenge 🖤 This one is run by @readingforthethrill @hayleyqreads @what_steph_read_ and @mandy_w87 and is always full with interesting prompts! I'm so excited for the 2024 version! 🖤 Globe Challenge 🖤 This was the third year I joined in with @books.with.han and @freydawreviews's challenge. I loved the prompts by different bookstagrammers and it definitely got me reading a few out of my comfort zone! 🖤 Hogwarts Challenge 🖤 Run by @bookworm1346, I can't resist a Harry Potter related challenge and this one had two prompts a month which were a lot of fun! Sarah is also running a different challenge in 2024 which will help me beat the blacklist! 🖤 Procrastinating Pages Challenge 🖤 Since I like planning my reads, this challenge by @procrastinatingpages helped me pick another three books per month and definitely helped to reduce my TBR! 🖤 Neglected Faithfuls 🖤 Audrey @hook.me.a.book hosted a few challenges last year, but I was especially excited for this #neglectedfaithfuls challenge as it helped me complete a few of my favourite authors backlogs. Audrey is also hosting many more next year. I will be joining her Kindle Crush challenge as my Kindle has also been far too neglected! 🖤 Other 🖤 I have also loved taking part in @buddyreadbooknook and @chapterandconverse bing boards, so thank you too. 🖤🖤🖤 What challenges are you joining in 2024?

📖 Book Review 📖 👮‍♂️ Death In Custody 👮‍♂️ By T.S. Clayton Publisher: Matador Published: 02/11/2021 Pages: 432 Genre: Crime/Justice fiction Tour host: @randomthingstours *Swipe for blurb and tour info* My thoughts 💭... A Death In Custody is a relevant and knowledgeably written story taking an informative, in-depth, and critical look at our criminal justice system and the way in which it works. Laying bare and challenging its strengths, weaknesses, loopholes, mistakes, successes, and every nitty gritty thing in between. Particularly highlighting racial tensions, police brutality, drugs, gangs, criminal underworld, and of course the presses role in it all. Leading to the ways in which our criminal justice can work brilliantly. But there are also ways in which it can fail the very people who believe in and come to rely on. In some cases, spectacularly. I did find it to be heavy on the detail, which kind of stunted the storytelling element for me. Due to the really long chapters, slow pace, and the fact that I found it interesting rather than compelling. But for someone who is studying, working, or is just interested in the cogs that keep the criminal justice system turning. It's definitely a book that should be on your tbr. #adeathincustody #tsclayton #matadorbooks #randomthingstours #bookreview #bookreviewer #bookblog #bookblogger #bookish #fictionreader #crimestory #books #read #reader #readingtime #tbr #readinginspiration #readingrecommendations #letstalkbooks #shelovestoread #ilovetoread #bookshelf #storygraph #goodreads #bookworm #bookaddict #crimereader #booktour #booklife

This Christmas By Emma Heatherington ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AD - PR Product Looking for cosy cinnamon scented romance to cosy up with this Christmas - this book is perfect for you! ❄️ beautiful, festive setting 🎄 gorgeous main characters 🤶🏻 doggie side characters 🎁 emotional, heartwarming and touching I found myself feeling so festive while reading, set in a picturesque coastal village in Donegal, our protagonists are Rose and Charlie - two people who have run away from their day to day lives for the Christmas period to escape their feelings and hide out - they find themselves accidentally sharing a cosy cottage with their canine side kicks. But do they have more in common than they first thought, as both succumb to their own personal heartaches could they end up being a comfort to one another? I’ve had the loveliest time reading this book and I’m excited to read more by this author - it was a welcome (and very necessary) break after reading gritty horror and nail biting thrillers in October.. the season is upon us and it’s practically bookworm law that we must make ourselves a huge hot chocolate and snuggle down with a romance book. Tell me about your favourite Christmas romance book? #bookreview #thischristmasbook #christmasromance #booklover #bookwormsunite #bookish #christmasreads #bookmas #bookblogger #bookstagrammer #bookreviewsofinstagram #cutebooks #romancereader #cosyromance #christmasromancenovel #emmaheatheringtonwriter #emmaheatheringtonbooks #booktour #bookblog #readmorebooks #readersgonnaread #bookishaesthetic #cosyaesthetic #rednails #thursdaybookishspotlight #lovereading #readingtime #booknerd #bookwormsunite #bookcommunity #bookishsupport

#bookmailmonday So thrilled about these!! I’ve read just one book each by these authors and both were 5 stars and made me want to read their entire backlist. The one’s I read are - The French Photographer and The Good Sister. I’m also looking forward to The Younger Wife and The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre. I wanted the foreign editions of those and ordered to my cousin’s address and have to wait until someone can bring them for me. Most of you are aware that I do this. For a better edition or a better bargain. Something unfortunate happened recently though. There was a great bargain on Natasha Lester’s The Paris Orphan and I ordered it on Amazon Canada, only to realise that it’s the same book as The French Photographer. I guess I can gift it to someone who I know will like it too but WHY do they release a book with different titles? 😭🤦‍♀️ Do you have a favourite Lester or Hepworth book? #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #books #bookmail #bookishlove #bookish #bookishfeatures #bookgram #bookstagrammer #booklover #monday #postoftheday #instagood #instalove #reader #readers #readersofinstagram #bibliophile #haul #bookhaul #noshelfcontrol #bookmail #newbooks #happiness #natashalester #sallyhepworth #theparissecret #theparisseamstress #themotherinlaw
