We’ve returned to @thelotusindian and it was the same excellent experience we remembered.

Crisp gol gappa bursting with tangy jal jeera, layered chaat, tender scallops, smoky tandoori and a slow simmered curry with saffron rice and fresh naan. All with proper, authentic flavour.

The service is exceptional too. Hearing the team welcome regulars back like old friends says everything. It’s warm, genuine and so well looked after.

Great food, great people.

The Jungle and the Sea, created by @shakthidharan and @eamonflack opened @canberratheatrecentre tonight and traced the human cost of the Sri Lankan Civil War.

Such a simple set. Such a powerful story. No elaborate staging - just a company of performers carrying decades of history, loss and resilience with nothing to hide behind.

The production held tragedy and joy in the same hand. It doesn’t shy away from the weight of what it’s telling, but it never loses its humour or its warmth either.

Still processing it and grateful I got to see it.

You can still get tickets for this weekend. Run, don’t walk.

A celebration of everything that makes the Canberra region @spiritscbr scene so special.

We spent the evening at the inaugural @spiritscbr Cocktail Dinner, where local distilleries, exceptional food and creative cocktails came together.

@yachtclubcanberra Executive Chef Trung Pham crafted a menu designed to showcase the character of each spirit, from beetroot carpaccio with pickled rhubarb and preserved strawberry dressing, to spiced ling with rosemary velouté, slow cooked Riverina lamb shoulder and a mandarin and coconut pudding to finish.

Each course was paired with a cocktail from one of five outstanding Canberra region distilleries, highlighting the diversity, craftsmanship and innovation being produced right on our doorstep.

Canberra’s dining scene just levelled up.

@east_traders_hall opens this weekend in Anzac Park East and it’s bringing together some of the city’s best operators under one roof. Think laneways, greenery, great energy.

@worldeatery2026 by Chairman Group is one to watch. A menu inspired by flavours from every direction, blending East, West, North and South with serious creativity. The Waldorf salad, stracciatella, sardines, crispy duck tsukemen with hand made udon is reason enough to visit alone.

Then finish with the @tokyolamington collab because saying no would be impossible.

Pizza lovers are in for something special too. @sliceria.cbr is headed up by world class pizza @chef_hemm and the slices are elite. Proper dough, proper technique, proper obsession.

@lava_coffee are roasting their own house coffee and delivering exactly what Canberra coffee people want: speciality coffee done right alongside genuinely great food.

Then there’s @lagerhouse.cbr pouring quality beers all day long, with excellent pub food to match.

We went to the Members Bar inside @eventsoldparliamenthouse for @cbrconventions event and what a special place this is.

With @oldparliamenthouse turning 100 next year, it’s impossible not to feel the history in every corner.

So many moments and decisions that have shaped Australia happened right here.

And while the stories are iconic, the cocktails are pretty unforgettable too… they make a wicked drink.

“The lights are shining on top of Red Hill again, thanks to the opening of @lunetta_canberra , a modern restaurant bringing new life and fine dining to one of Canberra’s most iconic buildings on the top of the hill. Given it dishes out Italian-inspired fare, it seemed natural to choose a pasta dish and this vibrantly coloured pecorino-topped ravioli with buffalo ricotta and fermented chilli oil —deliciously smooth and creamy—was worthy of having its photo taken. How wonderful to see old-school and truly excellent service as a core part of a dining experience.”

“Kids can get a bit ratty at the end of the school holidays so I let a few of the tribe loose at Vinnies at Cooleman Court to find a few treasures to keep them amused. Turns out they are all excellent little shoppers and bargain hunters and love a good op shop rummage. We came home with a very impressive collection of fun things. You really can pick up some fantastic finds across all sorts of categories. Three very happy little munchkins, or four counting me. National Op Shop Week is coming up next week, keeping the circular economy going strong. Wins all round! Maybe the time to get ahead of some Christmas shopping??”

Just went to the @superbao.canberra food truck @floriade_australia and what a lineup. Crackling Pork with that perfect roast pork belly and hoisin hit, buttermilk Fried Chicken with lime chilli mayo, crispy Tempura Prawn, golden Battered Eggplant, flavour packed Teriyaki Tofu, plus Wagyu Cheeseburger Spring Rolls and hot chips!

But the real show stopper? The Good Time Bao. Fried bao, Golden Gaytime ice cream, fresh fruit, and salted caramel. Unreal.

All of it with the perfect @floriade_australia backdrop. Good vibes, even better eats.

@floriade_australia starts tomorrow! A media sneaky peek was joyous and this town is in for a treat!

Tim and his team have done it again- flower power galore. Science and Nature, the theme, and the ultimate combo.

Snappers at the ready, shots galore.

The snacks and sips are scrumptious, from @contentiouscharacter @undergroundspirits @bentspokebeer @lepiartisanbakerycafe (as a lass who had to return to work, a mocktail and the floral sparking water were delightful!).

And the beauty of the blooms- well that speaks for itself.

Go get amongst the tulips, Spring in Canberra deserves to be celebrated.

Last night’s set menu @uptownvibes_cbr brought slow cooked deliciousness. We started with @cocoandrye_ sourdough dipped into three flavours - capsicum, pumpkin and beetroot then dove into a rich burrata salad layered with basil pesto and ox-heart tomatoes. The 36-hour pork belly was super tender and the guava sauce added sweetness.

The golden cauliflower brought smoky depth and brightness from the pickles, and the market fish in moqueca sauce was a standout.

We had whipped ricotta and the oregano fries on the side, but it was the tres leches chocolate cake that sealed the night.

Mascarpone and macerated strawberries made it the kind of dessert you don’t forget.
