Things to Do Before I’m Due 🤍🍼 | EPISODE 9

It’s finally time to pack MY hospital bag! 🧳💙

With baby boy’s arrival getting closer and closer, I’m checking another big thing off my to-do list! From postpartum essentials to all the little things that will hopefully make our hospital stay a little more comfortable, I’m trying to make sure I’m prepared for everything!

You would think after having four babies I’d have this down by now, but somehow I still feel like I’m forgetting something! 😂

Mamas, what is ONE thing you packed in your hospital bag that you absolutely couldn’t live without? Tell me in the comments! 👇🏼

At 5 days postpartum, I’m already building a freezer stash of breastmilk without using an electric pump.

On day 3-4 my milk started increasing in volume and I needed to get the milk moving and out in order to manage the engorgement and avoid a clogged duct and/or mastitis.

Every time I nurse my baby I place my @booninc trove on the opposite side to catch my letdown. When I switch my baby to the other side it is easier for my baby to latch as some milk has been removed. Occasionally I use my @lansinohusa manual pump if my baby falls asleep too soon and I need to remove more milk to be comfortable.

Final take away point: contact a lactation consultant! You don’t need to be in extreme pain/discomfort to need help. Reach out even for just questions to be answered.

Family movie night: Finn Family style 🍿🍕🎥

You have to watch a different Finn each time 😅

Also, this is the kind of stuff I’m having my family do on a Friday night when I actually have content to edit, pitches to send, emails to get back to, spams to delete

Today we took the main stage at @thepregoexpo in Boston to talk about 5 things you need postpartum that probably aren’t on your baby registry!

After two decades of caring for families (and having three babies of my own), here are the five things I wish every expecting parent knew:

1. Have a feeding plan. Learn your options before baby arrives, get support early, and remember that your plan can always change.

2. Have a sleep plan. Understand what newborn sleep actually looks like and make a plan for how YOU will get rest, too.

3. Find your people. Your village might look different than you imagined, but you still need one. And you get to build it!

4. Ask for help early and often. You don’t need to wait until you’re overwhelmed to lean on someone.

5. Invest in education and care. We spend so much time preparing for birth, but what about everything that comes after?

You can have all the baby gear in the world, but nothing replaces feeling educated, supported, and cared for as you become a parent.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Prego Expo Boston today! We loved meeting so many growing families.

Save this for your postpartum planning and share it with an expecting friend!

these are my top 5 favorites when I was an exclusive pumper! 🤪😝 I nursed my baby for one month, did pumping + nursing for month 2, then went fully into exclusively pumping until my daughter was almost 11 months old- I had enough milk to last her until after she turned one, so I stopped! It was a very humbling experience.
