MOBILITY JUSTICE IN ACTION! 🚴🏽‍♀️🚗🚌

What happens when you bring community members together, challenge them to navigate Blue Hill Avenue using different modes of transportation, and turn the experience into an interactive scavenger hunt?

You get the Great Commuter Challenge! 🙌🏾

And the conversations, discoveries, and lessons were so POWERFUL!

From biking and driving to riding public transportation, participants experienced firsthand some of the transportation challenges that impact residents, pedestrians, cyclists, and local businesses along Blue Hill Avenue.

👏🏾 BIG shoutout to our incredible youth leaders who stepped up to guide several groups through the challenge! We also want to thank Reggie from @t4mass
and Tiffany Cogell from the @bostoncyclistsunion for sharing their insights and helping us deepen the conversation around mobility justice and safe streets advocacy.

When we experience our streets from different perspectives, we develop a better understand of the challenges our neighbors face every day.

And that’s how we turn awareness into action! 💪🏾

This past weekend was overflowing with BIKE JOY! 🚴🏽‍♀️❤️

✨ And my heart is SO full!

One of the biggest highlight is, I was honored to receive a Golden Cog Award for my contributions to the cycling community here in the city of Boston!

What a beautiful reminder of how far passion, purpose, and community can take you.

When I reflect on the journey that brought me here, all I can say is THANK YOU, GOD! 🙏🏽❤️ I’m incredibly grateful for the gifts, opportunities, and grace that allow me to pursue my passion for wellness in so many meaningful ways.

Whether through fitness, mental health and well-being coaching, public speaking, or cycling, I find purpose and fulfillment in every space I’m blessed to show up in.

Each one allows me to connect with others, make an impact, and help create healthier, happier, and more connected communities. And for that, I’m truly grateful! ✨

A heartfelt THANK YOU to @bostoncyclistsunion for this recognition and for honoring me alongside my amazing colleagues.

And this is only the beginning! 🚲

October is Pedestrian Safety Month. While national trends show progress in road safety, Massachusetts is moving backward. 🚨

We cannot accept rising pedestrian fatalities as an inevitable cost of transportation. It’s time for:
* Statewide policy changes
* Lower speed limits in residential areas
* Dedicated funding for walkability and safe crossings

This must stop. 🛑

Approaching my fourth year as the Dev and Comm Manager for WalkMass, I constantly bring myself back to this moment from the Day of Remembrance last year: our two incredible program managers writing some of the most important words on the ground, a very cold breeze, and a reminder of why we do this work every day.

Today is the first day of Pedestrian Safety Month, a Week Without Driving, and a month away from beat the Bay state. I am so looking forward to sharing all this month with our followers. Safe Streets can’t wait.

October is Pedestrian Safety Month, a reminder that every trip we take should end safely.

Safer streets have been one of my top priorities as a City Councilor. I’ve supported projects like the redesign of Blue Hill Avenue, continued pushing for progress and improvements on Hyde Park Avenue, and worked to ensure our school zones have the infrastructure necessary to protect our children.

But building safer streets isn’t just about government. It’s about all of us, drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, parents, neighbors, and everyone who shares our roads.

This month, I’m asking all of us to take a closer look at how we move through our city and what each of us can do to make our streets safer.

Safe streets make a better city for everyone.

🚨Blue Hill Ave is currently not safe. It is at the top 3% of crashes in the City, making it one of the most dangerous stretches of roadway in Boston. Every 3 days, a crash occurs on BHA requiring EMS intervention. We need to prioritize safety, accessibility, and transportation equity.
