New badges to fundraise for @palestineredcrescent at @boundartbookfair! 🧷🧵

To celebrate 10 years of Bound, their programme “explores all things X: markers, symbols and mark-making; mysterious or anonymous phenomena; X-rated and marginalised desire; and the ways we observe and process the passing of time.”

I immediately thought of tatreez when I heard this and the beautiful stitches you can see in our book ‘Stitching the Intifada: Embroidery and Resistance in Palestine’ by @racheldedman so went to the incredible @tirazain.initiative and chose some of their tatreez designs for these badges! They’re £1 each, or free with a copy of Stitching the Intifada, all the proceeds go to @palestineredcrescent ✖️🇵🇸

Taking a short break to recover from the recent run of fairs, but next up is the tenth edition of @boundartbookfair at the very end of the month.

Will hopefully have a new zine launching there as well... Watch this space.

Then the weekend after that we're back in London for the Walthamstow Independent Book and Zine Fair organised by @julianwalkerandstufflikethat

TEST PRINTS for NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU by HAMZA ASHRAF @madebyhamza

As the second DEEPSTATE publication moves towards print, I’m thinking about how the different elements of the book come together through sequencing.

Pages from my asylum transcript, sometimes redacted and sometimes left entirely bare, sit alongside image transfers, photographic interruptions and fragments of writing that keep looping back on themselves. I wanted these elements to work together in a way that comes close to the state of mind I was in while making the work; the circling thoughts, the anticipation, the feeling of being unable to move beyond something that hasn’t quite happened yet.

These test prints are a chance to see how that comes together on paper, and how the sequence moves between documents, images and text.
