“Songwriting is about giving my children my voice and passing a particular message to them.”

At our Summer Party, we spoke about songwriting with the incredible songwriter and musician @jamesemmanuelofficial.

After losing recordings of his father’s voice in a flood, James realised that the songs he writes today can become a legacy for tomorrow.

“It’s about empowerment”.

Songs are how we can share experiences, preserve voices and leave something behind for future generations.

The Ivors Academy exists to protect, empower and celebrate songwriters and composers, ensuring they have the support, recognition and advocacy they deserve throughout their careers.

If you’re a songwriter or composer, join The Ivors Academy today (you can even start for free) - 🔗 link in bio.

A case of doing things you love: just hád to see the angel @jacobalon 🧚 again and went to @dtrh_festival on July 3, 2026 especially for their concert and soooooooooo happy I did😍 Together with their amazing band and WOW, did they nail it all and Cob blew the crowd away as always (and even a new song!)🔥 The singing of “Lang zal ze leven” for birthday girl @lizziereidmusic was a real joy🎉And then as a bonus, getting the setlist via paper plane by @naniporenta made my day even more special🥰 And Cob: TY for this special day, the big hug&little talk afterwards; see you again soon ❤️❤️
