PHKC would be nothing without... you 🧡 It rained (literally), and you came anyway. We tried to get everybody in the frame, but the room was too ✨ full ✨ of good people! We tagged everyone we could, including some we know we missed! To our alumni who came back for another month of A Seat at the Table, to everyone who made it into the frame, and to everyone who didn’t: thank you for stepping out in the rain to be here. Your presence was a gift. A special 🧡 to Mr. James Bryant (@universaltemple) for leading a conversation that reminded us taking care of our business starts with taking care of ourselves. A special 🧡 to Ms. Shelia Johnson (a Cohort #1 alum!) with @gangstagoodieskitchen for keeping us (well) fed and the room warm. Some people only see the crown. They celebrate the success. They applaud the strength. They admire the leadership. But very few ever stop to ask about the weight. The weight of being the provider. The weight of protecting everyone else while quietly carrying battles no one knows exist. This night was created for you. For one evening, the armor came off. There were hugs that lasted a little longer. Conversations that went a little deeper. Laughter that healed. Tears that were finally given permission to fall. We talked about the weight men carry, the masks they wear, and the hidden silences they often face alone. We were reminded that real strength isn’t pretending to have it all together. Real strength is having the courage to be seen. To every man who attended, thank you for trusting us with your heart. It was our privilege to honor you. Thank you to Sherri’s Executive Lounge @sherrislounge for creating the perfect atmosphere, Peachtree Restaurant @peachtreerestaurants for an incredible meal that brought brothers around the table, Naomi Hill Photography @naomihillphotographs for capturing the moments our hearts never want to forget, and Sensei Brands @senseibrands for bringing this story to life through your lens. Because this wasn’t just an event. It was permission. Permission to breathe. Permission to feel. Permission to heal. Permission to know you don’t have to carry your crown alone. Our men deserve flowers while they can still smell them. They deserve safe spaces before they reach their breaking point. They deserve to know they are seen, valued, and deeply loved. This wasn’t the end of a night. It was the beginning of a movement. We’ll keep making room at the table. 👑🖤 #HeavyIsTheHead #MensMentalHealth #Brotherhood #EchoesOfTheCityKC #MentalWellness Healing KansasCity BlackMenHeal
