Let’s dive into the world of @lordoftherings with A Journey Through the Worlds of @johnfhowe at @latourdufantastique ! ⭕️
John Howe is a Canadian artist and illustrator who lives in Switzerland, best known for his extraordinary work inspired by the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. His vision of Middle-earth became one of the major artistic influences behind Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, alongside fellow artist Alan Lee. Howe worked as a conceptual artist on the films, helping bring Tolkien’s characters, creatures, landscapes and legendary locations to life — from Minas Tirith to Mordor. 👁

Mystery In Space No. 4 // Oct. - Nov. 1951 // DC - Carmine Infantino/Bernard Sachs cover art.
Welcome to #GoldenAgeAugust, kiddos! I’m kicking this old-school rager off with a book that has one of my all-time favorite covers! 😻 Even Collette was stunned to see it! 😻😻 Yes, yes…long before Doom Patrol or the Sea Devils came along, there was ANOTHER DC sausage party with a token female member fighting in wild sci-fi-filled adventures: the Knights Of The Galaxy! ☄️ As you know, Carmine Infantino is my jam, so you’ll be seeing a few of these sweet old Mystery In Space bangers throughout the month! 🛸 💫 🪐
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch Infantino and Joe Giella’s interstellar interior art for cover story “Master Of Doom!” ⚡️ 🧑‍🚀 👽 .

Showcase No. 26 // June 1960 // DC - Joe Kubert cover art.
Another Silver Age stunner for @rons_favorites and #JoeKubertJuly, this one being the fourth and final appearance of T-shirt-clad Rip Hunter in the pages of Showcase before he was given his own book ⏳ And once again we get some knockout atomic-age sci-fi HOO HA mixed with a loose take on history…plus Rip looking like ever the square-jawed time travel stud 🕰️
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch more time-bending action from inside, courtesy of comic book legend Joe Kubert 👽.

Following up yesterday’s Neal Adams banger with this one, for #PhantomStrangerFriday and @cocofstar_collects_comics’ #FearFriday 👻 Between this series and The Spectre’s run in Adventure Comics, DC was cranking out some brutal sh!t early on in the Bronze Age 💀 And the great Jim Aparo was right there, lending his handiwork to the macabre pages!
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch the late, great artist’s work for creepy cover story “A Child Of Death!” 👦.

Mystery In Space No. 110 // Sept. 1966 // DC - Murphy Anderson cover art.
Raise a glass to the late, great comic book legend Murphy Anderson, who was born 100 years ago this week (July 9, 1926) 👑 💫 Here’s a fun one from when he was only 40 years of age, and it works great for #SilverAgeSaturday #SciFiSaturday and #MysteryInSpaceSaturday ☄️ 🛸 👽 🪐 Dang, y’all -- we really need to do another sci-fi month 😉
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch splash pages featuring intergalactic art by Lee Elias (“The Pied Piper Of Pluto!”) and Bill Molno with Sal Trapani (“The Booby-Trapped Asteroid!”) ☄️!

Action Comics No. 592 // Sept. 1987 // DC - John Byrne cover art.
Ah, yes. That time when a green troll turned Mister Miracle’s wife into a gyrating sex slave…in fringe! 💅🏻 I read this when I was 13 😳 The ‘80s were classy. Giving a #FourthWorldFriday tag here. 💥
⬅️ SWIPE ⬅️ to catch peak John Byrne in his Superman era, doing it up for “A Walk On The Darkside!” 💫.
