POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you’ve not been to the exhibition “Beyond a Joke” at @artsite.ltd then please make the time and do! It’s on till the 30 June.

Curated by @lisaloweceramics it features artwork about the menopause and the various symptoms.

Lisa has produced 34 pots representing the different symptoms.

Hearing people talk about those that had visited and engaged with the exhibition really touched me today and showed how important talking about and supporting women experiencing it is.

Really proud of Lisa and well done all taking part. It is a brilliant exhibition and praise is due!

The exhibition is part of the Swindon Art Fringe Festival and there are many other sites with exhibitions while it is on.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, you *could* buy Mum a bunch of flowers - but they won’t last long before they fade and wilt.
*Or* for a similar price you could buy Mum a piece of original flower art from the @thoughtpressproject - lovingly handmade by UK artists, which will last a lifetime. Plus you’d be helping to support children across the UK via the charities @_place2be and @ediblerotherhithe.

So, flowers that will be in the compost in a week, or a print that lasts forever and raises money for charity? 🤷‍♀️

And if Mum isn’t into flowers, there are loads of other fabulous prints to choose from, with prices from just £8 with free UK P&P.

5/100 - Poosie, owned by @bperdue.printmaker
(Swipe to see the real Poosie)

Poosie the bear was made for Rebecca by her Great Grandmother. Apparently she named him, although she doesn’t remember doing so!

Poosie is now 50 years old, but over the years Rebecca’s lovely mum mended and restuffed him more times than she can remember.

Let’s hear the rest of the story from Rebecca - Poosie is stuffed (literally) with my childhood memories - pieces of my mum’s dresses and some of mine and my sister’s clothes. Old wool school tights also form a large part of his make up

My great nan made Poosie for me, to be ready for when I was born. My great nan was a tiny birdlike woman, a true London matriarch, who measured in at 4ft 8. I inherited my stature from her! She managed to have 14 children and gazillions of grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she made something for each of us. I made Poosie’s vest and scarf with the help of my nan when I was around 6 or 7 years old. It’s more hole than knit.

At some point in his adventures with me, Poosie lost an eye (which I have kept - macabre!) my mum fashioned him an eye patch to keep him decent, haha!

He has always been with me and should I ever have to rescue something from fire or flood, it would be Poosie (and the kids, husband and the cat, of course!)

———

If you do one lovely thing today, make it be a visit to @bperdue.printmaker page and Etsy shop. I admire (and often purchase) her work SO much, so I encourage you all to go and take a look, you won’t regret it.

Thank you Rebecca, for your beautifully written words and the sweet tale of a tale of love and creativity within a family of wonderful women, thank you Becca and Poosie 🙏

Reposted from @bperdue.printmaker :
Here’s my @thoughtpressproject submission from start to finish (almost). I will probably mess around with adding colour in a day or two. I promise I will share the story behind this as soon as I have the finished version ready. In the meantime, enjoy the magic of Eric n Ern - at least one of us TTP-ERS was going to do it 😀

The gallery wall in the hall on the ground floor has grown legion. More framed art has been added to this space recently. I’m in love with this space and makes me feel so happy.

There is always something to look at and new details to spot.

I’ve a couple more pieces to add from our trip to the States, but I’d say it has been completed.

If you visit our house I hope you’ll enjoy seeing these pieces too.
