Photo of me from many years back at the infamous @hotelchelsea in NYC... Originally established as A Victorian Gothic building in 1884, The Chelsea would eventually evolve into a bohemian Hotel Haven.

Being a Sex Pistols fan, I first heard about the Hotel because of Sid Vicious and the notorious murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen that occurred there. The event left me perplexed as to what really happened at that crime scene since no one else was there to tell the tale besides Sid and he died shortly after.
.
There have been numerous other artists/musicians who have inhabited Chelsea's halls... Andy Warhol, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, Betsy Johnson, Mick Jagger, Jack Kerouac, Ethan Hawke, Lou Reed, Edie Sedgwick, Jimi Hendrix and Madonna to name a few. The Hotel's manager would actually let residents pay rent with art at one point which is a concept I love.

In 2022 the Hotel was renovated for a more upscale ambiance but the importance of the art/artists still remains.
.
If you've never heard of the Chelsea Hotel, I highly recommend googling it and its vast eclectic history.
