Athletes: low back always tight after training? It’s probably not your low back’s fault.

Every sport runs on optimizing your spine and hips: swinging, throwing, cutting, sprinting, lifting. That rotation is supposed to come from your mid-back (thoracic spine) and your hips. When those get stiff, your low back picks up the slack, and it isn’t built for that job.

@brandondecaro spends his days keeping athletes moving, so he gets his tune-ups too. In this session we open up his mid-back first, then finish with hip internal rotation work so everything above and below the low back moves the way it should.

The best athletes don’t wait for their back to get loud. They stay ahead of it.

Athlete bodywork for lower body recovery in Charlotte, NC. (Athlete/Trainer: @brandondecaro)

A spa massage feels good, don’t get me wrong. But the focus of athlete bodywork is how you move tomorrow.

Instead of working everything the same, I find what’s limiting your range and work there. Range comes back, legs recover faster, and you’re back to training sooner.

Charlotte athletes: DM me “Charlotte” to book an assessment.

Practitioners: I teach at @athletebodywork.

72 hours after the workshop ended…

New SQUARE 1 student Courtney ( @thesoulwarrior33 )took a client from 5/10 groin pain on step-ups… to pain-free, fully extended at the hip step-ups in under 10 minutes.

No special protocols.

No complicated routines.

Just better neural organization.

This is what happens when you stop chasing downstream effects (pain, tightness, weakness, inhibition, poor balance, etc.) and start working closer to the source.

SQUARE 1 in action - Tampa.

Less than 48 hours after finishing our Level 1-2 workshop, manual therapist @neil.holmes_ sent us these videos of his physically struggling client.

Providing the brain with the right inputs, right now, can unlock movement expressions that feel and appear borderline miraculous. We aren’t embellishing when we talk about SQUARE 1 being a life-changer.

Compensation patterns that had been locked in for a long time started to dissolve. Range, strength, and control came back online faster than most people believe is possible. This is the norm with SQUARE 1.

There is power in nervous system-first movement restoration.

Essentials ignite everything.

Even when the situation looks tough.

Grateful for practitioners like Neil who take the work and apply it immediately.

Principles over protocols.

Applied knowledge is power.
