‼️NEW ONLINE CLASS ALERT‼️ | GroundUp: loaded |

Life started for us from the ground up. As a child, we develop strength and basic movement patterns from ground up. Ground movements promote mobility and stability in the body for a strong foundation.

As adults, we have adapted to a life of chairs and tables, and have very few reason to get down to the ground. With this adaptation, we lose fundamental movement patterns along with the mobility that keeps us supple and pain-free.

It’s time to reclaim lost mobility and relearn basic movement patterns that builds a solid foundation for strength.

This class will help restore natural movement patterns that are practical and transferable to your everyday life.

GroundUp: loaded happens every Thursday, 7:30am online.

Drop us a DM to sign up!

Getting your first pull up may seem like a daunting feat, but with the right program, consistent work, and a growth mindset, it is a skill that can be trained.

A pull-up is a complex full body strength movement that requires the coordination of multiple muscle groups.

The ability to pull your own bodyweight up is one of the four basic movement patterns essential to any strength training regime. It helps build general strength in the shoulders and serves as a gateway towards more complex skills, such as the muscle up or gymnastic ring routines.

—
We’ve designed a 12-week course that will help you improve your pulling strength and work towards your first pull-up. This course will walk you through steps to improve your technique, shoulder mobility, core strength, grip strength while developing your pulling strength.

Program starts 6th November. Don’t miss out!

Despite being diagnosed with 2 critical illnesses over a year ago, 57 year-old @aitoiyp is now the strongest she’s ever been.

Here’s what she has to say:

“Throughout my entire fitness journey, I’ve joined numerous commercial gyms, various personal trainers, and experienced many different training methods - none of which seem to translate to everyday health or physical longevity. I lived with constant shoulder stiffness and was asked to wear a knee guard to restrict my movement.

I joined Breakfree when they started more than 2 years ago. Their holistic approach to movement has made me stronger than ever before. It has also helped accelerate my recovery from 2 major surgeries in the recent year.

Breakfree’s coaches are attentive not only to my physical wellbeing and goals, but also lifestyle habits that may contribute to my aches and pains. I am happy to be living my golden years now, free from physical immobility or pain.

Having experienced 2 serious illnesses, I won’t take my body for granted. I am thankful that Breakfree prepared me for the unexpected and made me the strongest I am now, ready for my old age.” -@aitoiyp

Ride instructor @xixi0lynn joined us over a year ago with a nagging knee pain that never got better, despite numerous visits to physios.

Here’s what she has to say:

“I was personally trained by Dr. Elaine, with a goal to rehabilitate my recurring knee pain. A few weeks in, I had already felt an increase in my recovery rate and felt minimal to no pain without compromising my daily activities.

Breakfree’s approach incorporates a range of natural movement-based exercises, alongside unconventional strength training which I felt was key to strengthening my weak hips and posterior muscles (which was the root of my knee pain).

During the lockdown, I was consistently attending the online group classes. Lately, I am noticing major improvements in my form and performance when I run and spin, and the increased efficiency has fuelled my confidence in my workouts / outdoor activities.

I am thankful for the Breakfree team and community for unlocking some major milestones in my fitness journey.” - CL, @xixi00lynn

Do you know many hours you spend sitting in a day?🤔

You sit while working👩🏻‍💻
You sit while driving🚗
You sit in the toilet🚽
You sit when watching TV📺

Great news is… you can fix it yourself.
Through movement.

This 58th Malaysia Day, we’re introducing a specialised course for beginners - Re:CONNECT.

Designed specially for beginners, the course will run in 4-week phases that will have a different focus each time.

The inaugural edition of Re:CONNECT focuses on our HIPS.

——
Did you know that the hip is the largest, yet most neglected joint in our body?

A healthy hip provides a stable base for basic movements: walk, run, jump, squat, bend, twist.

Some of the biggest, strongest muscles in the body surround and attach to the hip.

Unfortunately, our modern lifestyles of constant sitting has wreaked havoc, especially on hip mobility.

Poor hip mobility leads to poor stability, that often results in pain at neighbouring joints - the LOWER BACK and the KNEE 😫💥

——
Re:CONNECT // hips - aims to help you reclaim basic hip mobility with simple movements you can practise at home to alleviate your lower back or knee pain.

No equipment needed.

Designed to Move Masterclass Series: Student Progress

“I've spent the last decade trying to get fit in ways I didn’t particularly enjoy and ended up with injuries that didn’t seem to go away. I knew that was not sustainable.

I wanted to do something that I enjoyed, move intelligently without injury, whilst improving general athleticism that's important for everyday life and sports. The Designed to Move series has greatly contributed to all of this.

Through the series, I’ve gained better awareness of how the body collaborates as one structure, to move in a smooth, fluid motion without unnecessarily stressing the joints. The course also trains the mind with various movement puzzles and patterns to solve. It has made me realise how rhythm and timing are so important to movement and coordination.

I have gained strength, balance and elasticity in my spine and joints, an overall confidence and control in my movement. AND most importantly, I’ve enjoyed every moment of it! - @iyamorange

Designed to Move Masterclass Series: Student Progress

“I joined the Designed to Move Masterclass with the objective to improve my coordination, flexibility, range and strengthen my joints (esp with a torn ACL). I also wanted to explore movements that could potentially help release muscle tension and stress. Three seasons in, and there are no regrets. There is always something new to learn every session.

I’ve learnt that coordinations help me discover and reactivate parts of my body that I’ve either neglected or overused due to my lifestyle. It also helps me open the mind to be creative, coordinate with the body to move as one. And most importantly, it’s fun!” - @eehong
