This is more than a reintroduction.

It is a naming of the work I have spent more than a decade tending, and an invitation into what comes next.

Community building has always been at the heart of my work. Even before yoga and education, I organized live music events because I wanted to create spaces where people could gather, connect, and have what they needed. That desire has carried through everything I have ever placed my energy toward.

My formal yoga training and teaching began in 2013 with a 200 hour children’s and youth yoga certification.

In 2016, I completed a transformative 200 hour trauma-informed training with @4cornersyw and studied @y12sr directly with @nikisuemyers as part of my 200 training.

Sound meditation became part of my practice in 2017, long before its current visibility, followed by continued study in therapeutic yoga and another 200 hour trauma-informed certification centered on children and youth via @weareyogaed

For almost 5 years I have also led classes at @jpcentreyoga , and it has been my "yoga home", and the location where I have continued to grow "Yoga For Us" and my "Grief & Praise" offerings.

I name this history because depth, longevity, and integrity matter. The trust and relationships I have built come from years of study, practice, service, and genuine care for people.

For ten years, I wove yoga, mindfulness, wellness, and inclusivity into the life of an entire school community.

Now, I am allowing the work to expand beyond any one institution, stepping fully into sound meditation, movement, and facilitation as art and communal healing.

Before any title, I am a community member committed to listening, learning, and creating alongside the people I serve.

Consider this both a reintroduction and an open call.

I welcome collaborations with museums, schools, universities, artists, organizers, wellness spaces, and communities, locally and beyond.

The work is rooted.
The vision is expanding.
Let’s create together.

Ejercicios de respiración😮‍💨

Taking deep, deliberate breaths can calm a person physically and mentally.

Deep breathing techniques activate the parasympathetic nervous system (part of the nervous system that controls reactions to stress), as well as redirect the mind to a simple task, distracting from anxious thoughts.

Starting breathing exercises from a very young age teaches the children how to self regulate whether they’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

Big smiles or big feels, we’re here for the skills. 🌊

In the water, we build water safety skills as we learn how to find air, AND we practice regulating our feelings as we navigate new, challenging experiences.

There is ALWAYS a social emotional education layer to every journey in the water with me. It has been the heart of my career and education specialty for more than a decade.

With degrees in education and psychology, 10+ years of classroom experience, and the tools I’ve gained through @breathe4change’s 200-hour yoga and social-emotional certification as my foundation, I bring a specialized approach to helping children build skills, confidence, and emotional awareness in the water.

One of the most beautiful parts of this work is watching kids, and their grownups, move through something hard and come out the other side feeling capable and confident. That journey matters just as much.

I can’t wait for your family to join me on the journey! 💙

Zoe: “Mama, I’m graduating from no school to preschool, so I need a graduation hat like Aliya”

Aliya: “I’m graduating from preschool to Kindergarten!”

Me: “Let’s make you a graduation hat Zoe and have a graduation party for everyone!!”

Nothing humbles a teacher quite like preparing her own child for kindergarten. 😂

I used to have the toolkit, the routines, and the calm confidence of someone who knew exactly what kids needed. Now that it’s my baby, I feel like a novice all over again.

So I’m dusting off my teacher brain and starting with the things I know actually help: simple routines, little chances to practice independence, and lots of talking about what to expect.

Turns out having the teacher playbook and watching your own child grow up are two very different things.

Seriously, check out @drkellisammis every morning at 7:30am central standard time!

It’s the most perfect way to start your day! Her smile alone is infectious not to mention her fantastic relatable, 5 minute life meditations.
I’m so excited to have this Random Ties crocheted bag travel all the way to Texas, so that our energies will be even more connected. It’s exactly what my Random Ties collection is all about!

We designed this program to be more than a great summer for your kids. It’s a summer that grows you too. Slower mornings. More presence. The kind of days that remind you what you actually want your life to feel like.

This is what that looks like at 12pm on a Thursday in San Sebastián.

Thank you to dr.ilana.nankin for bringing her @breathe4change yoga practice to our families.

Comment WAITLIST to get on the list for 2027 enrollment in San Sebastián, Annecy, and Porto, opening in September.
