LOOK AT THIS YALL! I found this little piece of history recently: “Candy Land,” written AND illustrated by Brittany Jones, Grade 3. @breegordon_ remembers this. 📚 😂 And right alongside it was my certificate from the Reading Rainbow Young Writers & Illustrators Awards Competition. @readingrainbow signed by @levar.burton Looking back now, back-to-school season has me thinking about the little girl I was in 1997. The storyteller was already inside of me. Before… —The journalism degree —My first newsroom…the awards —Becoming an author —Before building B.Free Communications & Consulting. There was a third grader with a big imagination, creating characters, writing dialogue, and illustrating her own stories. ✍🏾 I meannn look at that tree and those flowers baby 🌺 🌴 🤣 👩🏾‍🎨 Nearly 30 years later, storytelling is still at the center of what I do. So as kids head back to school this year, here’s a reminder: pay attention to what lights them up! That story they’re writing… That picture they’re drawing… That pretend newscast they’re doing… That thing they can’t stop talking about… It could be a glimpse of who they’re becoming. Make sure they know that 😌. Cleint spotlight 🎯 I want to give a huge shout out to my online client @cheesettecowan for amazing progress on her fitness journey. We started working together virtually in 2023. We stopped for a few months but came back full throttle in April of 2025 and have never missed a beat. I have watched this young lady come down from 330 lbs down to 148 lbs with NO SURGERY, just hard work, consistency, and staying the course. Down over 180 lbs is like dropping a whole person. No it was not always easy. Some modifications on workouts needed to be made but sometimes I had to push her out of her comfort zones to help her realize her true potential.
