'The Turn Of The Screw' - the Henry James novella ...
memorably the classic 50's movie 'The Innocents' starring Debora Kerr ( which is a favourite of mine )
but also to my surprise...
an extraordinary gothic opera...
which Vic Opera have staged brilliantly...
At the artistic helm is the fabulous and uncanny Stuart Maunder directing the spine tingling scenes
& magnificent
cast ...brilliantly...
Starring...
Rachelle Durkin, Karen Breen , Sharon Prero, Michaela Cadwgan, Oliver Thadoe Naing, Genevieve Gray, Hamilton Binnie Garcia... they all
deliver a haunting tale with incredible voices.
The guts of it all,
the Orchestra led beautifully by conductor Paul Kildea.
What a treat to have my Nine the musical alumni Roger Kirk create the set and costumes for it.
One last show on Thursday at Melbourne's The Palais Theatre....
DO NOT MISS THIS !
I MEAN IT.

On Sunday Arts Magazine - Joy94.9…we always love supporting Victorian Opera…and it was a treat chatting with opera singer Kanen Breen

Victorian Opera presents a haunting new production of Britten Britten’s opera The Turn of the Screw
at the Palais Theatre from 29 September – 1 October.

Adapted from Henry James’ gothic novella, The Turn of the Screw has spooked generations
of readers with the chilling tale of a Governess, the children in her ward, and sinister forces
that may, or may not, be tormenting them. Britten’s 1954 adaptation dials up the suspense
and leaves audience members questioning everything they’ve just witnessed.

Snuck over to Adelaide for the night to see the @adelaidecabaret opening gala. Lovely to see so many old friends. Especially those iconic photos from our time in the foyer by @claudio.raschella . @reubenkayeofficial has put together a fantastic program with so many BIG voices and even BIGGER personalities. Lots of gala highlights from some of my faves like @the.bettie.bombshell @frankiemcnair_ @gilliancosgriff @vidyamakan @mahaliabarnes @emrusciano and an absolutely mind blowing moment from newly crowned icon @ursulayovich All wrangled elegantly and mostly clothed by Reuben himself. Had a fun sing in the piano bar with @jonest74 Thanks Fleeza for being my date. I took nowhere near enough photos and missed seeing so many people. But I did get a breakfast buffet at the intercon 🙏 #fifo #adcabfest
