Our premiere night! I am so incredibly blessed, happy, and proud to celebrate the world premiere of “The Night Alone” at the @nychalloweenfilmfest with the people who made the film possible and the people who supported us all this time. Last year, during the frigid winter season, we worked as a small team of 4 - 6 people late at night on the now decommissioned R68 @mta D train northbound from Coney Island to make this story come to life and it was one of the most challenging productions we’ve ever embarked on. The elements were against us and we needed to shoot in an entirely empty subway car, which is something that almost never happens in this city. But, in the end, it was worth it to film it as it was envisioned. I am indebted to the amazing folks I get to work with and I am privilege to call you collaborators and I will keep championing all of you. Thank you to my amazing cast and crew for your dedication to “The Night Alone” and thank you to everyone who came out to support us. This moment is for us. Thank you to everyone who came to the festival and thank you to the NYC Halloween Film Festival for selecting “The Night Alone” as a part of this year’s line-up. It was an honor. Here’s to “The Night Alone”, to us, and to our futures as filmmakers! #thenightalone @resistancepicts #filmproduction #nychalloweenfilmfestival @anthologyfilmarchives @mrmichaelevans @shaqhenry_the_ix @ron_chun_ @bretomey @claireunabia @matthewhjames #anthologyfilmarchives #newyork #NYC #film #movie #short #festival

The audience reactions to the grotesque head-spitting sequence in our horror short film, “The Night Alone”, at the opening night of the @nychalloweenfilmfest were incredible. I loved hearing the people squirm in their seats watching this madness unfold. This is what the movies are all about. Thank you, everyone, for enjoying this fucked up short and for supporting the vision! This made the late night shoots in the freezing cold weather on the subway worth it. #thenightalone @resistancepicts #filmproduction #nychalloweenfilmfestival @anthologyfilmarchives @bretomey @claireunabia @matthewhjames @mrmichaelevans @esberger_music @bassybob.eth @jonny_blackbird @losdepressos #anthologyfilmarchives #newyork #NYC #film #movie #short #festival

“The Night Alone”. @nychalloweenfilmfest. It was an incredible and genuinely humbling experience watching our hard work shown on a big screen like this. Hearing the reactions the film got from the audience tonight in the creepy, gross moments was genuinely moving. It’s a surreal feeling to watch your own film blown up in a theater like this. I am so, so grateful to be able to share this short film at the festival and to be here with the cast and crew. Thank you so much for this moment. Watching my own work projected onto a theater screen will, no matter how many times, always be a privilege to experience. Movies are my life and this is what I work for. To share my art with you and to connect through this visual medium. Words can’t properly convey just how grateful I am for this. Once more, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. #thenightalone @resistancepicts #filmproduction #nychalloweenfilmfestival @anthologyfilmarchives @bretomey @claireunabia @matthewhjames @mrmichaelevans @esberger_music @bassybob.eth @jonny_blackbird @losdepressos #anthologyfilmarchives #newyork #NYC #film #movie #short #festival

Tomorrow is the night alone! Our new horror short film, “The Night Alone”, will have its world premiere at the @nychalloweenfilmfest opening night event tomorrow at 8:30PM at @anthologyfilmarchives in downtown Manhattan (doors open at 7:45PM). I can’t think of a better time to screen this new project during the spookiest month of the year. We are so thankful and humbled to be a part of this year’s line-up in a local genre film festival. “The Night Alone” was made as a love letter to our city, specifically the iconic R68 @mta subway train that are now being decommissioned, and to the horror films that left their mark on our hearts. We couldn’t be prouder of what we were able to accomplish on those late nights filming on the D train. Come out and support our work and also the festival itself. I hope to see you guys there tomorrow night! Five years of “Citizen Khan”. On September 26th, 2021, principal photography for my first feature film, “Citizen Khan”, which was shot completely in one long continuous take, officially wrapped. This remains as one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever embarked on and, after all these years, I’m still so proud of what we accomplished together as a team. Shooting an entire 90+ minute feature in one take with no hidden cuts was a gargantuan feat of blocking, rehearsal, improvisation, and situational awareness that we almost thought was impossible to pull off, but somehow we managed to do it. While the end result isn’t as polished or as clean as I envisioned, all of which is due to my own faults as a filmmaker at the time and not on the cast and crew, “Citizen Khan” captures the madness of creating art and the personal struggle I was dealing with then and continue to deal with today. I ripped my heart out of my chest and put it into this story and I hope it’s as cathartic for me as it is for you as the audience. Here’s to five years of our production wrap. Thank you to my incredible cast and crew whom I love so dearly. This wouldn’t have been possible with your passion, your dedication, and your love of filmmaking. Thank you.
