Ecstatic dance is a form of free-form movement that allows individuals to express themselves through dance without specific choreography or structure. It's often practiced in a group setting, where participants are encouraged to let go of inhibitions and dance in whatever way feels natural to them.

Key aspects of ecstatic dance include:

Freedom of Expression: There are no set dance routines or steps to follow. Participants are free to move in any way that feels right to them, allowing for a wide range of expression and creativity.

Connection to Music and Rhythm: Music plays a crucial role in ecstatic dance, providing the soundtrack for participants to dance to. The rhythm and beat of the music often guide the movement, helping individuals to connect more deeply with themselves and the music.

Mind-Body Connection: Ecstatic dance emphasizes the connection between the mind and body, encouraging participants to move in ways that feel authentic and natural. This can lead to a sense of liberation and self-discovery as individuals explore different movements and expressions.

Nonverbal Communication: Since ecstatic dance is primarily a nonverbal activity, it offers a unique form of communication through movement. Participants may interact with each other through dance, forming connections and building community without the need for words.

Healing and Transformation: Many practitioners of ecstatic dance view it as a form of healing and transformation. By allowing themselves to move freely and expressively, individuals may release pent-up emotions, reduce stress, and cultivate a greater sense of well-being.

Ecstatic dance sessions can vary widely in format, from structured events with facilitators guiding the dance experience to informal gatherings where participants simply dance together in a shared space. Overall, the practice of ecstatic dance offers a powerful way for individuals to connect with themselves, each other, and the music in a deeply meaningful way.

Ritual is the passageway of the soul into the infinite (Algernon Blackwood).

Each ceremony is different. You cannot control where the energy flows. Doing ceremonial work is a mix of setting an intention and offering a container for the group energy and allowing to unfold what is there.

Let’s gather again in ceremony and reunite the tribe! 💎
