Brett and I are building a new house and this is an early rendering. Don’t mind the VB net facing the wrong direction. AI still has its quirks.

This home is going to be…large. It will be between 12,000 and 13,000 square feet with 10 bedrooms. Let me tell you why.

Brett and I love to be home. We’ve built an amazing life where our home is the centerpiece of our daily life. Neither one of us have wanderlust at this stage. We like having a routine, eating at home, and we love hosting family and friends! I have girls over pretty much every day to play volleyball and between October-May, we have guests at least twice a month. We absolutely love when our place is full of people we love playing VB, games, swimming, sauna’ing, cooking and connecting. Oh, and we’re planning on more babies!

This house is going to cost us a pretty penny and any financial expert would tell you that putting money into a primary home is not the place to get returns. But, this decision is not about maximizing every dollar we have and that’s where I see people get it wrong. They won’t spend on the things that really contribute to their happiness. They get too obsessed with just growing their pot of money, but I’ve been uber clear that I don’t want to be a billionaire.

I’m so excited to get to put my creative energy into this project. Think color, mosaic tiles, bold bathrooms, wall and window treatments, rounded arches and large communal areas.

Turned the big 4-0 two weeks ago and was completely floored by all the lovely people from every era of my life who gathered to welcome me into a new decade, 18 of whom flew in from across the East Coast. GO DUKES

I can't thank everyone enough who was either there for the surprise or sent a card, text, fb post - whatever. I'm grateful for my life and all of the wonderful people in it. Thank you @clousey for spearheading such an endeavor and thank you @jimivins , @richardo614 , and @amandarog__ for helping her organize that. It means so much.

Then Linds tripled down and organized my dad and Lisa surprising me in Nashville, surprised me with a trip to Mexico City, and then her finale was that one of my childhood best friends, Wade, surprised me, alongside his partner, Emmalon, in Mexico City.

Linds is the best and I love her to death. I know how hard she worked to get all of this together. The theme of this post is gratitude yet I lack the vocabulary to adequately express how truly grateful I am. It is immeasurable.

How did I get so lucky. I'm emotionally depleted. I love you all. Here's to 40.

We took first out of 15 teams, most of them college girls who all played great and were so much fun!

Huge thanks to my incredible partner, Roberta who is just one hell of an athlete and so positive!
