Yesterday I joined the rally and was at the Utah County meeting where candidates spoke out against data centers.

Today the Utah County posted a clip that makes it look like they supported them. They didn't.

The Salt Lake Tribune's voter guide told candidates that government corruption is Utah voters' top concern this year. This is why.

I'm Alan Jimenez, I'm running for House District 61, and I'd be honored to earn your vote.

Hey everyone,

By now you've probably seen the video of Aspen being slammed to the ground by an officer yesterday.

Before the meeting, there was a rally where Aspen and a few others spoke. Their messages were inspiring and hopeful about standing up to data centers and protecting our communities. I got to talk with Dallin, Sav, and Aspen throughout the rally and in the meeting room. They were exercising their First Amendment rights and protesting peacefully.

I left before the incident to go to another event, but while I was there, I didn't see anything that would justify that kind of force.

It's disheartening that none of our leaders bothered to check in or make sure everyone was okay. We cannot normalize police brutality just because elected officials don't like hearing opposition.

And it's infuriating that they voted unanimously for the data center measures, even though the room was full of people there to oppose them. Most Utahns don't want hyperscale data centers forced into their communities. These officials are supposed to represent us. So why do they keep ignoring us?

This election day is our chance to vote out anyone who hasn't taken their job as our representative seriously. We need people who will listen and be a voice for our communities.

Before election day, make sure you're registered, and help your friends, family, and neighbors do the same. Make a plan for when and how you'll vote, then show up. Our communities are counting on us.
