The 2026 BBCL Champs @thetexastailgaters

Winning the first ever Banana Ball Championship with the Tailgaters this year was special for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest had very little to do with baseball.

For a long time, I played with an anxious heart. I was constantly comparing myself to others, worrying about how I measured up, and putting pressure on myself to prove something.

This year, that changed. I started surrendering that pressure to the Lord and trusting Him with the things I couldn’t control. Instead of playing to prove myself, I could finally just play. Free to compete, free to have fun, and free to be present in the moment.

And in that freedom, I found myself connecting with my teammates, the fans, and the game itself in a way I hadn’t before. I never could’ve imagined how much support I would receive this year from teammates, coaches, family, fans, and my incredible wife!

I’m grateful we got to finish the year as champions, but I’m even more grateful for what the Lord taught me and this team along the way. No game will define who I am. I don’t have to earn my worth through my performance.

This championship will always mean a lot to me, not just because we won, but because of how the Lord used myself and the people around me.

All glory to God… and Gater Up💙🧡

My first season with Banana Ball is officially over.

8 months, 20 cities. Countless memories and unseen laughs on the sidelines, bus rides, press boxes, and planes. Getting to be a part of bringing fans into the folds of knowing these players better, knowing their stories, their paths to Banana Ball, who they are as competitors but, even more, who they are as people has been a blessing that words will never cover.

What felt like an unachievable dream for the majority of my life became my new normal. That was never lost on me. The biggest blessings of my life have come because of a leap of faith I took last August.

Never let yourself say “what if” about anything in your life. Go after things in a way that gets you a definite yes or no. The noes will get you exactly where you’re supposed to be just as much as the yeses.

But boy, am I so, so grateful that Banana Ball was one of the yeses.

Season 1, done. We’re just getting started.

Job. Is. Done!

Through the ups and downs of this season, this team has never quit! We have loved each other like true family and played for our brothers and sister next to us. We could not do what we did without every single person on this team pulling their weight whether they were hurt or healthy, both on and off the field.

Being led by @cowboymik00 @coach_bartman and @b_penny3 has been an honor! I’m truly grateful to to be able to give my all to this team and proudly say that… WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!

To Tailgater Nation, my family, friends and all supporters of The Texas Tailgaters… THANK YOU! Thank you for all the support all year long and thank you for keeping us going! I love y’all!

They called us the Bandaid Boys. We became the Junkyard Dawgs. Now you can call us Champs!

I can’t put into words how much these guys mean to me. We fought all year, stepped up for each other, and got it done as a full team. I’m so dang proud of what we accomplished together.

It starts with a leader, and the Junkyard Dawgs were all in behind @cowboymik00 @b_penny3 and @coach_bartman
