It’s my babies LAST first day of middle school and I am unwell. These girls have been besties since elementary school and to be able to watch them grow so much over the last three years has been such a gift. I am so grateful for the friendship that they created and that just keeps getting stronger every year. I’m also grateful to have been able to drive them to school or pick them up every day for the past two years as a part of our carpool mom squad. I can’t believe our girls are growing up so quickly and next year on a day like today they will be starting their first year in high school. May they have the best last year of middle school ever! And our sweet Ethan is such a trooper. He puts up with three girls, their makeup routines in the car on the way to school and all of their gossip every day after school and just smiles… I love all four of these kids with all my heart. Here’s to another amazing school year together!!

Last year of middle school for these girls!! They’ve been together since Elementary school and their friendship bonds continue to grow with them. I know Ethan secretly giggles at them as he quietly chokes on three different kinds of strongly sweet perfume scents. Love these kids and the honor of driving them to school together. Hope all your kids have a great school year!!

❗️❗️❗️Book Update ❗️❗️❗️

Starting in 2015, I spent 7 plus years walking around Little Havana just documenting everything I saw. Buildings, Side Streets, People, etc. I was able to amass a large number of photographs that represent a unique historical archive of this iconic neighborhood of Miami.

In 2020, a small collection of these photos was published in portfolio/book by Peanut Press Books. A couple of years later, an exhibition with a larger selection of these photographs took place at @artmediagallery which was curated by Jose Antonio Navarrete.

I am currently in the process of preparing a more comprehensive book with a larger selection of these photos.

Making a book takes time, money and a great deal of effort.

❗️❗️❗️I only ask that you share my posts to help me spread the word. ❗️❗️❗️

Beneath the Surface: A Little Havana story is currently in the process of scanning and editing. With a little bit of luck, I will be making the layout of the book towards the end of the year, and with some more luck, the book should be in my hands by the end of the first quarter of 2027. Fingers Crossed!!! 🤞

I will appreciate all the help and support that all of you can give me. Spread the word, make some noise!!! Etc!!!!

Follow me to stay updated!!!

I have some more news coming soon! For now, I invite you to follow @deathpressbooks

Down in the Redland you can find almost anything. From old boats, jet skis, broken trucks, dead animals, etc. sometimes you can also find classic cars like this one.

Got this candle of the #virginofguadalupe today. Brian had found this little church a while back and we were able to go in today. To my surprise, it was a recently (6 years old) established Catholic Church and a Saint Lazarus shrine.

San Lazaro or Babalú Ayé (in the afrocuban tradition) is a very important symbol. It’s considered a healer of sorts. People pray to him for they sick relatives, or they make promises to him that they later pay up.

They also had lots of candles of the virgin of Guadalupe. I’m assuming that’s because there’s a large Mexican population located in south west Miami Dade which is where the Redland is located.

The people at the church we very welcoming and friendly. Turns out that the lady that works at the small church store is from the same town that I am from in Cuba.
