Find renewal in the everyday 🌿

That's the invitation as National Retreat Week draws to a close - a reminder that renewal doesn't has to be far away but can be found in the chores, the queues and the world around us every day.

The beautiful Tulip Tree at Mottisfontnt . I've walked past this tree countless times yet never realised how beautiful it is. A reminder that slowing down, looking up & reconnecting should be a priority for all of us, even if for a few moments.

It’s always a sad moment to greet the end of an exhibition, and this one has been particularly poignant for me personally with today marking the 7th anniversary since Jess passed away, but also professionally, being able to present work that truly feels like an expression of myself through photos, audio and sculpture.

Thank you to all of you who have been able to see the work and engaged with it, I hope in some small way that you have felt something stir inside you, a resonance, compassion, hope or acknowledgement of this beautiful world we live in.

I want to say another huge thank you to curators Kirsty Rodda and John Reed, who invited me in to curate the show according to my vision and respected the art for what it is. Thanks also to Mike the technician, who’s calm and deliberate professionalism ensured the show look as wonderful as it did. Thanks also to all the staff at @arcwinch and @hantsculture who have invigilated or supported the show in any way, your attention and generosity of spirit was integral in inviting people into the space.

Thanks also to all of you who have supported me through the making of the work (@jimmarsdenphotography @raymondmeeks @adriannaault @ordinarylight), those of you who travelled a long way to come and see the show, taken the time to let me know how much it meant to you or shared the work through your own channels and invited people to engage with my work for the first time (thanks @briandraper ).

I shall be back with news of another exhibition in the not too distant future, and to keep up with my various goings on, sign up to my monthly mailout Set Your Sights at the link in my bio.

We continue catching up on wonderful things our hosts have been up to.

Emerging Form's very own Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer @rosemerry.trommer was featured in conversation with Brian Draper on his YouTube channel, on Mar 18, 2025. The conversation was titled "Yes to the World (As It Is) - A Conversation for Lent with Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer."

From the podcast: Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer is a poet, teacher, speaker and writing facilitator. Her poems have graced many prestigious places and spaces including the stage of the Carnegie Hall and the pages of O magazine.

Her latest collection is ‘The Unfolding’ - written since the deaths of her son and father, in the same year of 2021; it’s a poetry of praise, which expresses her willingness to say ‘Yes to the world as it is’, even from within the breaking open heart of grief.

In this moving conversation, Rosemerry talks about poetry as practice, and what it means to say 'Yes to the world as it is' from a place of grief.

The Unfolding (Wildhouse Poetry, 2024) is available from wherever you buy your books.
