August 1, 2026. Colorado's 150th birthday. What a great day for a ski with @brianvwiens . While the amount of snow on this line is the least that I have seen in the past 16 years, the snow quality was surprisingly good. As always, we were both stoked to be out skiing on such a beautiful summer day. On this day, Brian completed 31 years of skiing every month, while I will hit 16 years next month. He passed late last year around Christmas just a few days shy of his 91st birthday. I’m sharing this video on behalf of the family, because we all love it and hope others do too.

I don’t think I’ll ever meet someone as satisfied with their life as my Grandpa. He did every single thing he set out to do. Travel, design, paint, love, raise children…the whole 9 yards.

But I’ll always remember him for being the man we all went to for an encouraging word. Everyone in my family is deeply supportive, but Duane was a CHAMPION of art. Hundreds of oil paintings, bronze sculptures and iconic logos such as The Children’s Hospital to his name, he never stopped creating.

On a personal level, my first film, I Know, is entirely based on our early relationship. As we grew closer, Westerns became the cornerstone of our evenings spent together. Because of this, I wanted to contribute one of my own to our catalog, so The Brink was born months later. I’m beyond grateful he was able to see them both a handful of times before he moved on.

He knows I’m going all the way, and he has from the very beginning.

I’m not one to share tons of personal anecdotes on social media, but on behalf of the family, this just couldn’t be kept underground.

Wherever he is, Duane is sipping a bourbon and Coke, and he’s having himself a ‘fuck yeah’ moment. And he absolutely deserves it.

We love you and miss you…Grandpa Duane.

360 consecutive months of skiing in Colorado! All year long, Brian finds the snow.

When Brian Wiens started his streak 30 years ago, he was skiing mostly by himself, especially in the summer. To celebrate the milestone, everyone he’s inspired to start their own streaks joined him for an August ski day high up in the Colorado mountains.

Today we celebrated @brianvwiens accomplishment of 30 years of skiing every month of the year, which is 360 consecutive months! It is truly an inspiration to us who are early on in our streaks (105 months for me!). It was an honor to meet Brian for the first time today and try to keep up with him on lap two of the ski line! I hope to keep my streak alive as long as he has! #skiallyear

Last weekend marks my dear friend’s 30 years of turns and we had a blast getting out and sliding on the snow like some smiley kids amped for recess. Things never never change and some will never grow up cheers to lifetime of turns Smiles and laughter @brianvwiens

Skiing in August in Colorado. It was just as much fun as last August. Especially when you have a great ski partner like @brianvwiens ! A couple laps on a favorite summer ski line. 167 consecutive months of skiing for me and 348 for Brian #legend . Wrapping up my season of skiing at least once a week for 37 consecutive weeks (I missed a week in mid November). Cheers to all of you TAYers out there!
