@creativesouthga 2023 recap

Putting this here for me to refer to later. Can you relate to any of these?

1. Find your people!🤓
This being my 3rd year, I was looking forward to seeing my creative family IRL—people who are not only wickedly talented but who are genuinely kind humans. Looking at you, @cdianegibbs! While I learn new things, my goal is to make new friends and deepen the friendships I already have, and I realize not every conference is like that. One creative told me about his guys-only slack group they set up for accountability/support/feedback/prayer. Obviously, this fosters deep friendship. I’ve found a smaller but similar circle already yet this didn’t exist 3 years ago.

2. Set aside time to create just for you and just because the act of experimenting brings you joy. 😊
How many times have I heard now from speakers about this side project they did for fun that turned into real work?! I’ve had ideas for things I just want to do/try. Just haven’t set aside the time. At the encouragement of many I highly respect, not only will I have to do these side projects but also need to post it. 😅 Thank you @bucket826 for your encouragement and belief in my work.

3. Stop writing novels during lectures. Draw your notes. ✍️ Pick out the main ideas and illustrate the journey. @alejoporrasart, you’ve changed my world!

4. Experiment with augmented reality 🪄@fugstrator assures us it’s easy. Good thing, because I have an application I need to get working on this week!

Very thankful for some time to get away and recharge. @zack_odom you are amazing. 😘 Thank you for making this happen.

Thank you to all the awesome creatives I met @creativesouthga. Let me know if you spot your stuff!
Decided I could have them live on display by StickerBombing my suitcase sticker display. You magnificent group of eclectic artists, designers, illustrators and creatives all inspired me so much.
I hope to make it out next year.
Keep on creating till then!

Who’s who in the Creative South Family Reunion poster? Here’s one of 12 crop-ins to show you. At least as many as I can tag. Check out the other posts to find more, and lemme know if you find yourself or a friend!

I loved working on these likenesses. It made me appreciate this awesome community even more, and helped me feel more connected. So thankful for @creativesouthga and the whole CS fam!

Love,
Joseph
