A truly magical day at @sundownpointfarm on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia - where the initial idea to start what would become @t3al_4real was born.

A massive thanks to @briarmour @marcusjollyweddings for their never ending generosity, and to @benjfrey & @katigburgers
for the production support. ❤️❤️❤️

Summer snaps circa January 2017 by the mondo talented @marcusjolly 📸

Taken just outside of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, this wildly expressive concept by Marcus Jolly, Brianna Armour, and I was put together as the visual aesthetic to the fourth and final record in my Seasonal Tetralogy album series, Cosmos In Summer. This album was the first fully independent analog album production I recorded, performed, and mixed on my own at my hub @chinacloudstudios with my newly acquired minty vinty TASCAM 388 Quarter Inch Reel to Reel Tape Recorder. I owe all of my passion, inspiration, knowledge and dedication to learning how to use that piece of equipment which I still treasure to the brilliant Malcolm Biddle. This 2017 album, Cosmos in Summer, as well as all of the Elastic Stars albums I have produced can still be found at elasticstars.com or where ever you stream and purchase your music. My new album ‘Hobbyist’ will be live TOMORROW, November 27th, 2025.

As a long time lover in the spirit of dressup and witching around the Halloween season, it’s been a bit challenging to notice a sharpening discernment over this cultural ‘holi-day’ and the pieces which truly resonate, over which feel increasingly misaligned.

More and more I notice an unconscious culture playing in themes of malevolence under a mask of entertainment, with little to no virtue or reverence for this season of emerging darkness. I feel the sacredness woven in the traditions of Samhain and Dia de los Muertos but here in the Northwest we masquerade as demons and essentially feed posion to children, generally unaware of our sensitivities, nor the implications of embodying harmful entities and ‘playing’ in the frequencies of death ~ it’s truly madness!

I’ve been re-educating myself about the witch hunts and our female ancestors who were tortured and murdered for being close to the Earth + Spirit. Similarly I feel angry and grief stricken to watch as witches are still being portrayed by today’s cultural standard: an ugly old hag - no longer fertile, no longer beautiful, sovereign and in her cronedom - something to fear and extinguish. It’s clear there’s a deep void in how we’re holding our own history and the truth of these holy-days and holy cycles of life.

There’s a lot to field through, but as my own version of the witch: an intuitive, medicine woman and cycle breaker in my lineage, I’m relearning to energize this inherently feminine portal as one of great potential ~ not to be overly distracted from with candies and costumes but as a deeply spiritual space to walk reverently and respectfully between the seen and unseen realms. I’m integrating this time as one to honour the beloved dead, to give gratitude for the work that has been forged to afford our freedoms, and to recommit to this one unique and precious incarnation.

We still take joy in celebrating the creative play and basking in the dark, we’re just learning to ground it in greater awareness and intentionality.

From New Mexico to Salt Spring Island, been taking it slow, joining Cheeseburger Clubs, and mastering The Crone Zone. But most importantly, I am starting a cult soon. Who’s joining me? I know what you’re thinking: FINALLY.
