The beautiful draping in this @galialahav dress actually goes all the way back to Ancient Greece & Rome!💕🩷

The idea of wrapping & draping fabric around the body, letting it naturally fold & gather has been inspiring designers for thousands of years. And now we see that same idea translated into modern couture and bridal fashion 🤍

I just love when you look at a dress and there’s a tiny piece of fashion history hiding in it 🎀

Fashion/bridal history on capes!🤍💫✨ wearing Hypnos by Galia Lahav.

Capes are thousands of years older than the wedding dress as we know it. Ancient Greeks and Romans wore cloak-like garments, and throughout history, elaborate capes became associated with status, ceremony and power. By the Victorian era, women were wearing incredibly ornate capes made from silk, lace and embroidery💗 including capes that may have been worn for weddings.

So when you see a bridal cape today, you’re actually looking at a modern version of a garment that has been making women look important for centuries!!♥️ #bridalfashion #fashionhistory #weddingdress #bridalgown #bridalcape

Trying on the gorgeous Spring 🌸💗 gown by @galialahav Crafted from ultra-light French lace, the design balances sheer delicacy with bold structure. The corset is dramatically sculpted with a cat-eye sweetheart neckline and a sharply pointy basque waist, while sculptural side pieces form a split peplum that rises on both sides!!💫✨ #weddingdress #bridalgown #bridaldesign #galialahav #bridalera
