Are you turning your need for meaning into self-punishment? 🛑

It starts by looking outside of ourselves for satisfaction. But when that isn't enough, we turn inward. Without the right tools, that inward turn can lead straight to self-blame and even substance abuse as we struggle to make sense of our world.

Gerri Sapinoso Hudson opens up about her journey to escape the cycle of "self-flagellation" and how she explored every available modality to find healing.

Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and reflect on what truly matters. As the year closes, mindful reflection allows you to step into 2026 with intention, presence, and focus.

Ask yourself:
✨ What leadership lessons from 2025 will I carry forward?
✨ What habits or patterns am I ready to release?
✨ How can I show up with clarity and purpose in the new year?

Even just five mindful minutes can create a reset that transforms how you lead. Share one insight or intention below and start the year grounded and intentional.

Happy Kwanzaa! 🕯✨
This week invites us to honor the seven principles of Kwanzaa — values rooted in unity, purpose, community, and collective wellbeing. As leaders, these principles offer a grounding reminder: we lead best when we lead with intention, connection, and presence.

Umoja (Unity) reminds us to strengthen the bonds within our teams.
Kujichagulia (Self-Determination) invites us to define our path with clarity and courage.
Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility) teaches us that meaningful progress happens when we uplift one another.

As you move through this Kwanzaa season, take a mindful moment to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.
Which principle is resonating with you this year? Let me know in the comments.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! Earlier this month, I announced the launch of a new program based on a framework I created called BLISS(TM). People have asked me over the years how I managed to juggle everything: my full-time leadership role at work, mothering of four children, marriage, my extended family relationships and friendships, while still finding time for myself.

The truth is, during that time, I wasn’t on that list. I was focused on serving others. Yes, I enjoyed the benefits of these communities, but my decisions were driven primarily by a sense of responsibility, obligation, perfectionism and people-pleasing, and not at all in consideration of my own well-being.

Life is full of ups and downs and, sometimes, our needs have to take a backseat to something else. But how we navigate these challenges can significantly impact our well-being—our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. And our relationships. This takes a different kind of skillset, something I didn’t learn in the classroom.

When my life hit rock bottom through the perfect collision of professional and personal circumstances, I started a healing journey that centered around self-care, not in the superficial way often seen on social media, but as an inner journey to myself through self-care practices. I became a wiser, more compassionate parent, partner, daughter, friend and leader.

My most recent article in Skin, Inc. marks the official beginning of this new chapter of BLISS(TM) - the self-care framework that helped to transform my life from one of perfectionism and overwhelm to one of gratitude and joy. You can find it here: https://www.skininc.com/business/management/article/22944549/from-burnout-to-bliss-a-self-care-story
(If you would prefer a pdf file of the spread I can send to you privately.)

When the August issue was released, I celebrated the milestone with an email series gift to a select group of attendees from my previous programs, friends, and family. To my surprise, several people responded when I asked for their thoughts. They found the daily emails and BLISS practices short and easy to digest.

What if slowing down was the smartest way to start your week?

We’re so used to equating speed with strength. Rushing through the morning. Diving straight into emails. Stacking meetings back to back without a single pause.

But here’s a quiet truth:
Slow is not weak. It’s wise.

When you take a moment to breathe before opening your laptop…
When you savor your coffee without juggling notifications…
When you set an intention for how you want to lead that day…

You’re not just caring for yourself.
You’re regulating your nervous system, building emotional resilience, and setting the tone for how you show up — for your team, your work, and your decisions. Gift yourself those few extra minutes.

Because grounded leaders don’t just react. They respond with clarity.
